We've officially known a sequel to Motorstorm was in the works since last September (and logically known it for much longer) but we've been short on details. That changed today when the BBC reported that Motorstorm 2 would be released in time for Christmas and would feature four-player split-screen (huzzah!).
The piece also revealed that players would "race around a lush island environment, full of interactive vegetation." You say "interactive vegetation," we say "hottest new buzzword of 2008 con-firmed."

I hope the game will have some form of rain and fog effects. I think it would be cool to watch the mud wash off your vehicle during a race.

Don't get ahead of yourself now. Let them work out that interactive vegetation that is so critical to the success of this game.

I've been waiting for Motorstorm to come down a bit since launch, but now I might just wait for the sequel if it's going to have 4 player split screen.

I just wanted to point out that the image you used is by far the most believable 'Shop I've ever seen. Props.

Kinda like Burnout 3 where you hold the "A" or "X" to go in slow-mo. I think that's the way to go...

I could care less about game-play or graphics, give me some quality interactive vegetation and I'm happy.

Oh cool - a sequel to a $60 demo.
Can't wait. I'm sure it will be as barebones and rushed as its predecessor.

Your restraint won't go unrewarded.
Motorstorm has no split-screen cooperative play; irrespective of any downloaded content, it launched with very, very few tracks; there's no time trial or really any additional racing features other than what would be described as a "grand prix" mode; there was a tremendous amount of slow down; and there were (again, ignoring DLC) very few vehicles.
Is that enough? If not, I'll begrudgingly accept the "idiot" award.

4 player split screen at good frame rates with the visuals you get in games like this is harder than you think. Then again, do you?

Where's Feranado? I've been waiting for him to turn this into negative PS3 news. With his famous "PS3 Suckz" comment or the ever so wonderful "Mario Kart is better" statement... Guess you can't win them all.

This game will suck sheerly because it is developed by Sony and not Microsoft or Nintendo. It has no chance of looking good, playing well, or being anything more than insult fodder just because of that fact...w

Now if it has some form of split screen multi-player , I would consider buying.
That was the main reason I returned the original motorstorm. (though definately not the only reason for the tech demo known as motorstorm)
I mean come on, the morons in charge of the release didn't even consider a racing game needs split screen.

"would feature four-player split-screen"
Let's hope they can finally fix the single player frame rate issues than maybe they can add one or three more players to the on screen action!

Frame rate issue?
What frame rate issues? Ran perfectly fine for me.
I wasn't teh biggents Motorstorm fan, mainly because of the lack of splitscreen.
Now, I will definatly pick Motorstorm 2 up.
Gaming with friends in the same room will never be beat.
Online be damned.
