GDC08 as retold through food
Among the few guaranteed assurances that come with GDC, one is perhaps the most constant: in the precious minutes you have to eat -- assuming you have any minutes at all -- you will cherish whatever sustenance you can cram down your gullet. It is with this in mind that we decided to snap pictures of (almost) everything we managed to eat this week, thus bringing the masses one step closer to really being there. Without further ado, enjoy the various foodstuffs (and the many, many sandwiches) of GDC.

This must be part of the series, GDC08: Stretching a Week-Long Show into Two Weeks of Coverage.
Sorry Joystiq - I had to.
JonFitt @ Feb 25th 2008 3:42PM
Seriously, with the shakey-cam videos and huge buckets of non-stories, this GDC coverage has been very disappointing.
It left me hankering for a traditional news outlet who substitute quality for quantity.
Joystiq has been providing us lots of things which are the equivalent of: FIRST!!!111

I would love to be a game journalist so I could go to a game conference like one of these. However, the pay is so small, there is no way in hell I would ever be one.

Um ... burn?
rv @ Feb 25th 2008 5:02PM
I wasn't trying to single you out, and like i said, you have a "dream" job. However, I assume you aren't taking in more than 40k from joystiq, which sucks.
Unless its a part time gig.
Marty @ Feb 25th 2008 11:46PM
rv: I'm no game journalist, and I went to GDC this year. I'm kind of a hobbyist / indie game dev though, hehe. :P
Fernando Rocker @ Feb 25th 2008 3:28PM

DangerMouse @ Feb 25th 2008 3:29PM

Richard Mitchell @ Feb 25th 2008 3:34PM
Is *that* what that was? Glad I didn't eat it then.
Paul @ Feb 25th 2008 3:29PM
And what the hell is wrong with onions? Onions rock!
You know who hates onions?
Jack Thompson, that's who.
Fernando Rocker @ Feb 25th 2008 3:31PM
I love onion!
Vince UK @ Feb 25th 2008 3:33PM
Cheese and onion sandwiches and crisp pickled onions is all you need in life.
finnith @ Feb 25th 2008 3:37PM
Only the devil and Jack Thompson don't like onions. And it has yet to be proven that they are not the same person.
rv @ Feb 25th 2008 4:05PM
Onions are good.
Scallions are great.
ThornedVenom (Ludwig Defense Force) @ Feb 25th 2008 4:49PM
In Soviet Russia, Onion loves YOU!
Fernando Rocker @ Feb 25th 2008 3:32PM

Jerk Face @ Feb 25th 2008 3:44PM
Man, I am so god damned hungry now.
Brinstar @ Feb 25th 2008 3:50PM
I was actually pleasantly surprised by their vegitarian options all last week. Yum.

That burg in pic 3 looks like poison, who the hell ate that thing.
Shagittarius @ Feb 25th 2008 4:01PM
You must not have In n' out burger where you live.
Evan @ Feb 25th 2008 4:07PM
Jesus, you sound like someone who was picked on by onions as a kid...
Chance Morgan @ Feb 25th 2008 4:11PM
I thought you were being too nice to the onion when you called it the bastard of vegetables.
Minus Onions - FTW!
ThornedVenom (Ludwig Defense Force) @ Feb 25th 2008 4:52PM
Next-gen food suppresses the rumble in my stomach.

I hope there was an EAT or GBK near there. I couldn't have gone otherwise.
That and having to pull out of IGF because of a last minute publisher deal.
arleigh.sandoc @ Feb 25th 2008 6:27PM
As someone who grew up and still lives in and around San Francisco I will say that their choice of the Grand Cafe was a good one. I'm surprised they didn't try the other restaurants in the vicinity like the 5th Floor.
AlexP @ Feb 25th 2008 6:57PM
nom nom nom
Gaddes @ Feb 25th 2008 6:59PM
Argh... all the delicious GDC food I wasn't entitled to because I only had the student pass. ;________;
Adam @ Feb 26th 2008 3:01AM
Your American bacon is dodgy, was all the GDC food free?
