New games this week: Patapon edition

No matter which system you prefer, you have to be happy about a release week as beefy as this one. We say "beefy" because we're not really sure about the quality of most of the games on this week's slate with one notable exception: Patapon. We've played it, and it's officially a must-buy for PSP owners. For the uninitiated, it can be best understood as a rhythm RTS which is just as unusual as it sounds.

Jesus, I can *not* get that out of my head. I play the tree mini-game through my car's tape deck with one hand while I drive. I have a problem.

A game called PUZZLE GUZZLE. Hm. Okay.

i played the demo.....nothing special. its kinda like Tangrams mixed with Tetris. you have to flip the squares and make closed Tangram like shapes with the triangles on the squares. all the while more blocks are falling. the graphics are really bad and the shapes change size and shit depending on what its touching. really tacky. i think i got the demo from PSPFanboy if you wanna give it a try anyway.

I have my patapon and my Brawl all paid off. This is going to be a great couple of weeks.

dammit. if only i had some damn money i would do the same thing.

I've got Patapon and Brawl preordered too. And I just got Lost Odyssey, Nights, Harvey Birdman and Apollo Justice last week, so I'm a very happy gamer right now.

Patapon is awesome. Its definitely not easy though.

It's too bad Blokus' box art is so godawfully bad that nobody would want to play it. I've played the board game and it seems like it would be a pretty good seller... it's on my list for the week, at any rate. Definitely going to be hiding the case in a dark hole once I get it, but the disc might not leave my PSP for some time.

Humm .... Destroy All Humans: Big Willy Unleashed .... that must be the oddest name for a game ever!

And what exactly is great about the PS3 releases? Come on now.

Always with the waiting. It'd be a much smarter move to wait till the PS3 has some more price cuts and when there are worthwhile games.

But isn't Patapon already out? Bought it a few days ago in GAME.

@Mills and Boom, it came out in the uk on the 22nd, making us the first place outside of japan to get it, the rest of europe still have 4 days left till release though

Nah, they have that card game to tide them over. You know. The kind of game the people who played the GBC Pokemon Card game got bored with after 20 minutes.

Yes I've just been crying myself over watching my winning formant Blu-Rays, all of my media streaming over my TVersity server, playing all of the PS1 and PS2 games I have wanted to replay without keeping the old PS2 that broke after ONLY 7 years of gaming. That and upscaling all my dvd's so I don't have any reason to keep my old dvd player. Oh and you know, I really like when I'm not using it, to contribute to medical science with F@H. Eye of Judgement isn't cool or anything. Playing movies off of my Tversity server, to my PS3, then over the internet at the jack in the box to my PSP isn't cool or anything.

I must be out of the loop. I could have swore all Destroy All Human sequels were canceled...

I played the patapon demo and it is easily the worst game I have ever tried, I can't believe that people are looking forward to it.

All this touting of "the next locoroco" have brought on some terrible games. Downstream Panic and Patapon are both piles of cack. Cack.

Same can be said for the MMO madness. The whole MMO market is unbelievably stale. Not only that, the FPS market as well, every game strives to be the next Halo. How about striving to be the next big game in the genre, or next game to be used as an example to be compared to all other games from then on. These dev's have been aiming low lately. Halo wasn't even that good. [/potentiallyhazardousstatement]
