The extra $5 is weak, but I suppose they don't want a bunch of SA controllers sitting on shelves at the same price as newer, slightly fancier controllers.

I'd rather that $5 came off the SA than went onto the DS3.

I like rumble but I don't need it that much. I'm fine with my 2 SIXAXIS controllers (1 I got as a Christmas deal at $19.99). I just bought a Dualshock 2 last night because my brother broke one, and that cost $25. Even that price is ridiculous, I mean it's not even wireless!

I actually only own one SIXAXIS controller. The rest were 3rd party(Logitech)wireless ones.

That's why I bought my Dualshock 3 last month so I dont wait till when Sony decides to release it. Very Happy not regreting paying $65 for the controller worth it. Playing Devil May Cry 4 and have rumble aswell as Heavenly Sword with working Sixaxis.

It's kinda getting ridiculous when controllers are almost as expensive as getting a new game.

Especially when the controllers are almost the same thing they've been since the original Playstation.

....except battery powered wireless with 6 axis motion sensing, right?

Sure, the form factor is the same, so what? That's 20 cents worth of plastic. It's the bluetooth radio and six axis motion sensing and vibration motor and lithium ion battery pack that make it expensive.

Nate,

Then why doesn't Sony opt out of having a built in Li-OH battery in favor of user replaceable AA's? It'd save Sony a fair amount of money, and the company wouldn't have to recycle/refurbish Dual Shock 3's in the same way it has to with the Sixaxis controllers. As much as people complain about having to buy or replace batteries, it takes 30 seconds to replace them and you don't have to wait a week or two for your controller to return.

@nate

That's fine. But it still shouldn't cost as much as a 50hr game.

Any word if the dual shock will still rumble for existing PS3 titles like Motorstorm and Resistance?

Must they make money on EVERYTHING!? In my opinion Sony has drug users, especially early adopters, through the mud with this sytem - couldn't they throw us a bone and charge cost on these things?

How long's the battery life on that thing? Can't be too long. Will users just be better off with it plugged into the USB while they play?

I have a dualshock and the battery life is great. Its a little shorter than the originals, but i would say 20 + hours. Also the rumble works really well. no difference than the xbox. Maybe a little lighter

If you are sitting there gaming for over 20 hours you might want to reevaluate your life.

The battery life is great.

I use PS2 controllers on my PS3 because of the controller dropout issues. The triggers are better and they work 100% of the time. Any word on if PS2 controllers will rumble with PS3 titles? I am NOT spending $105 to replace my controllers. That's what we here in Brooklyn call BULLSHIT!!

I was thinking very hard about importing a DS3 when I saw this, This is sweet.

Why is everyone so pissed at the $5 price hike??? If you dont like it, get a crappy Gamestop controller for $20.

That does kinda suck about battery life, but I have a 25' USB cable extension so it doesnt bother me.

oh and as far as compared to wii/360 controllers. Bluetooth FTW. End of message
