Harrison departure won't affect Sony's Home
As Sony über-executive Phil Harrison prepares to leave the company this Friday after 15 years, GameDaily wondered what this would mean for PlayStation's Home. Harrison is credited as a leading proponent of the Home experience going back to its beginnings on the PS2. An SCEA spokesperson said that it's "business as usual for Home."At GDC '08 some new screens and tools were shown for Home, but there is still no announcement about release. The last major progress report from late '07 showed the program is coming along, but still faces some challenges.

...that's assuming people were actually worried that Harrison's leaving would have any effect on Home in the first place.
Why would it have? All the guy did was promote it.

From what I gather he was a major driving force behind Home or at least Sony's online wheelings and dealings.
In fact, isn't Sony Japans stance on online one of the reasons he left?
Boostjunkie @ Feb 26th 2008 7:25PM
From what I heard the whole idea of cross game invites is considered rude in Japanese culture. So without him, home or anything decent online for the PS3 might not be a reality. That's if home really works anyway.

Oh, but it will affect home. Dinner won't be the same anymore. Who will throw peas at Kaz now?

Thank God. I was worried that Harrison's departure would cause Home to start hitting their release dates.

Dudes disembodied head is WAY scarier than DR Kawashima's.

That's what they're gonna start doing to people who can't make their mortgage payments.

I'm sure Phil leaving wont cause any problems. We are just going to have to wait, wait, wait and wait some more like Sony usually do. No surprises there!
Bucfann @ Feb 26th 2008 5:34PM
Oh thank Christ!!!!!!!!! I was so worried about Home. I couldnt sleep at all last night just thinking about it. My first thought after hearing about the resignation was how Home would be forgotten or abandoned. I nearly fainted, but instead just sobbed uncontrollably.
Thanks for the great news. Now we can still look forward to Home and all the fun it will bring. Like................... um. Wait . Nevermind. Home is lame, useless garbage. Keep that sort of crap on The Sims or Second Life.

Chris Compton @ Feb 26th 2008 8:22PM
Home was updated today with almost all of the features for release other than trophies. The graphics are way better also.

Oh, so you mean we still can't use it? Thanks for the reassuring news!

Phil will be missed at Sony, but at the same time Im happy to hear that he will continue to support Playstation in whatever he has planned for his future outside of Sony.
Im guessing he might be planning on doing like Jaffe and starting his own studio or something.
