Man, and I don't know what to do. Wait for the PC version with better menus and aiming or just keep playing through the game on the 360 (I've just started). I think the improvements, while nice, might not warrant a separate version for those who already have it. Couldn't be happier the option's there though.

This is the reason we don't have to. ;P

Agreed. Just because we're gamers doesn't mean we have to buy 360s. Besides, my PC doesn't RROD on me.

For serious, why drop the $400 or so on the system and the game when we can just drop $50 on the game and play it on our already compatible rigs. :P

Vegeta. So according to you. You do have a PC capable of running Mass Effect. Double negatives are fun.

I guess the pc market does not care about getting old games. I would rather own a 360 and get my games new when they come out. Getting games late is like watching a tv show everyone has talked about at the wter cooler half a year later. Not to mention I have grown acustom to couch style of play and chatting on XBL. Now, the ONLY pc gaming I do is RTS (Mouse + keyboard still beats controller for those)

Mike,
I guess you stayed away from the orange box, FEAR, and Battle for Middle Earth 2. Works both ways.

The only time it matters when you buy a game is if you're very interested in the MP aspect and dont want to be left behind when everyone jumps to the next best mp game.

My PC was pretty excellent when Oblivion came out, but I don't think it'd be so great with any recent games.

Besides, the main reason I'll probably always play a 360/PC game on the 360 is my monitor is 21 inches but my HDTV is 40.

What I don't understand is why do you care if people would rather play the game on the 360? Seriously in every thread, you're like JUST ANOTHER REASON WHY YOU DON'T NEED A 360 lolololololol. If people want to play it on the pc, that's fine. But if people like me want to play it now on the 360, well that shouldn't be such a big deal.

Cool. I do have a 360 but I haven't bought this game yet b/c I heard that the load times were pretty long. Hopefully, caching from the hard drive will speed things up. Do you think that an 8800GT would be able to play this game at a pretty full clip?

Can someone remind me what this has over the 360 version? Yes, there's the "improved" interface, but that's only so it works with a mouse. Is there anything I should be jealous over?

Did you miss the first post? You'll be able to hack to real full-length hardcore human-on-alien sex scene out of the 'stuff we should have deleted but didn't' folder.

That's worth the games weight in gold!

Supposedly many game bugs will be fixed, the framerate will be smoother, even on relatively cheap machines, the graphics will be better, load times will be shorter, there will be new game features such as the inventory and minigame, and the controls will be better--you will have more control over the Mako and you'll have the option to play the game more in a run-'n-gun style with keyboard hotkeys.

Basically, the game will be a lot better than the Xbox 360 version. It's the no-brainer version to get if you have at least a mid-range PC.

Here's a nice build if you plan on building a new PC:

Ein... if you're in that price range (a sub-$200 CPU...) you'd be better off going with AMD. Socket AM2+ motherboards tend to be cheaper, and right now the AMD 6400+ black edition, which you can overclock to 3.6 or so, is the best deal in terms of CPUs. And you have future-upgradeability if the phenoms ever stop sucking or become really cheap.

LOL. Who doesent buy a game because of long load times? I mean I hate long load times too, but to avoid buying a game because of them, LOL. Besides mass effect does not have long load times. Only the elevator rides in the citedel are ungodly slow. Everywhere else in the game is fast/normal loading. The only thing thats gonna help you playing the pc version is if some1 comes out with a mod to skip those stupid elevators.

Well, it's not like I was avoiding the game. There were so many good titles released on the 360, Wii, and PC this past holiday season that I just didn't have any time (or extra money left over) to pick this one up.

One of the most regarded complaints about Mass Effect was the load times (which is admittedly small, but hey with a metacritic score of 91, I guess there's not much to complain about). Since I have a pretty nice PC, I'm just going to wait to see if the PC version is any better.

Awesome, can't wait to pick this up. Hook up my PC to my 50" 1080p plasma, break out the wireless KB/mouse.. best of both worlds, I tells ya.

BTW, you don't need the newest and best graphics card to run this... the 360's card is a few years old, so yours can be too and get the same or better experience.

I can safely say, if the RROD incidents haden't occured-or maybe still weren't occuring (yes, I am talking of the RROD incident at the GDC) - I would have a 360 right now and be playing halo3
