Wii Warm Up: Franchise mash-ups

With the impending release of Smash Bros. Brawl, we've had franchises on the mind lately. This game is pretty much guaranteed to be the best cross-franchise game ever made, including tons of folk that normally wouldn't be anywhere near a first-party Nintendo game.

Then, reader Chris sent in an email showing us his latest creation. It's a mash-up of Kirby and Travis Touchdown (you know, from that game we can't seem to stop talking about). It's quite a nice statue, if we may say so.

Now that you have franchise mash-ups (we hope hope hope No More Heroes will become a franchise) on the mind, what other pairings would you like to see? Mario in a Star Fox game? Yoshi stuck in Silent Hill? What do you think?

Looks like Kirby ate Hiro, from the TV show "Heroes", after Hiro smoked a bag of crack.

I don't particularly like mashup games that aren't of the Smash Brothers variety. Sports games and fighting games can do it, but I'd hate to see Mario lend Solid Snake a hand or Link fighting off Bowser.

Too much mashing up reminds me of the horror that The Jetsons Meet the Flintstones brought when I realized that they were essentially the same show. Look, Link and Mario both fight a large bad guy who keeps kidnapping a princess. Whoops, now I ruined those for someone out there.

I still want a Mario/Sonic platformer...

I'm trying to imagine Mario on those loops and it's just not working out. Super Shoes or no.

I think its very cool.

I don't care if this concept has been done before. I love Kirby and I love No More Heroes. This statue is completely bad ass. That being said, Kirby with human teeth is terrifying.

I agree this statue is quite good. Now for a place to put it...OH!...nursery!

I also need that statue, like, now. Start a factory production line or something, just get me one.

Mario & Sonic would work so well, though, since you have great character pairings:
Sonic & Mario- the heroes
Tails & Luigi- the Sidekicks
Knuckles & Wario- the strong rivals
Peach & Amy- Damsals in distress who can kick ass if needed
Bowser & Eggman- the enemies

I don't think there really needs to be any more games of random characters in the same game. Unless it is something like Smash Bros (like vidGuy said). I think like a hidden appearance of characters are cool, but I don't think there is any good combos. Although Travis in Super Smash Bros would RULE (and when Kirby uses his B sucked in, he looks exactly like that picture).

Yeah, and give little boys (and girls) nightmares.

I like it, but $400 is pushing it though

Travis would be a great brawl character but nintendo would never allow it since the game was so so so so very explicit. How come nobody ever considered megaman as a potential character? He is pretty much all over Nintendo especially the DS versions.

Good mash-ups would be:
... well I kinda agree that mash-ups are more of a negative thing.
Brawl is good in that the mesh-ups all come together on neutral turf. Characters meeting characters in other games just dosen't seem like a good idea, in fact it feels like the makers are selling out when they do that.
