Too little too late, these guys are so slow to post reviews that have become irrelevant and almost forgotten.

OH I almost forgot. I received my first free issue of EGM this week. Thanks Joystiq, Weblogs, and whoever else helped get it in my mail box so quickly. THANKS!

Good. They also need to explain that a game that gets a C is NOT WORTHLESS and SHOULD BE PLAYED if you like the positive points in the writeup.

So many people are fucking slaves to "I won't play a game if it's rated under an 80%" or whatever arbitrary rules.

This scale is a step to fixing that attitude a little, but it's one of the main things HURTING this industry, which turns out safe and formulaic products TO GET GOOD REVIEWS, not to make interesting and fun games.

Here is my system:
>90% buy ... maybe
>80% rent
70% & less: Stay on my GameQ, probably forever.

Life is short, there are too many games. Who has time for the sevens?

I also think IGN's reviews of comics could be applied to games, similar to what some people say in this thread: Buy it, rent/try it, skip it.

I like Dennis Dyack's idea. Either thumbs up or thumbs down and I'll add thumbs sideways.

This makes the point of a letter system mute.
A=excellent
B=good
C=average
D=bad
F=failure

Why can't they just make the dashes inbetween the number scores? Like the first one would be around 8.7

On November 13th, at 11AM, Gamespot gave Kane & Lynch a 6.0. At 10PM IGN gave Kane & Lynch a 7.5. To find the number of degrees that Kane & Lynch raised, which equation could you use? Let X be the number of degrees that Kane & Lynch changed.

Please send your solutions Dan Shu at 1up.com.

Good. I think if more outlets start coming up with unconventional scoring systems, the Metacritic/Game Rankings averages will finally be totally screwed over, and maybe, just maybe, we can all regain our sanity and not start another war over an 8.8...
