Catch crabs in upcoming Deadliest Catch game
18
We really were a bit un-enthusiastic about bringing you news that Discovery Channel's fishing documentary Deadliest Catch was spawning a video game. But then we thought of a witty "catching crabs" blog title and that gave us enough of a boost to finish our blogging duties. Anyway, Deadliest Catch Alaskan Storm will feature crab fishing on the deadly Alaskan waters where you'll command some rickety old crab boat to make a year's worth of income in a few weeks. Now that's the life we hope to live. And if that description doesn't get you enthused, we advise watching the video above where Captain Sig Hansen introduces the game and tells us what inspired him to search for someone to code such a piece of work. Or you could always come up with your disgusting crab jokes. It worked for us.

Wow. That seems like... how should I say it? It seems like a bad idea for a game, and that it might not be much fun.
Well, maybe it will have Avatar-style achievements!

What a great show, but at the same time a really bad idea for a game.
Then again bass fishing games have always been a staple of consoles, and arcades, and they have seemed to do well. So who knows crab fishing may do well as well.
I'm not going to rule out some sort of implementation of this game that could be good, but most likely this game will not be that.

I'm going to be the first to say it I guess ... I think it sounds pretty cool.
I'm assuming you'll have to somehow track the crabs which could be fun, depending on how it's implemented. Also, it would be cool to have a free roaming perspective on deck where you have to actually run to the different stations and work your way up to actually being the captain and running your own boat.
Seems like a decent idea. At least they didn't try and make an atrocious MythBusters game.

Awesome. I approve. I'm all for games that take up unusual premises and don't involve swords or laser guns or ninjas. I will not buy or play this game but I salute the people who made it.
