A representative said the head tracking software has not been announced for any titles, but we'd love to see it show up soon for pretty much any genre of game. Video embedded after the break. (Note: It doesn't work for users with Canada, Japan or U.K. IPs.) While you're at it, (re)watch Lee's video to get a better idea of the potential of head tracking software (also embedded after the break).
PS3 head tracking only needs camera

The PSeye can also tell where your EYES are looking on top of headtracking using builtin facial recognition technology.
The Wii OR the 360 can't touch this. The PS3 has facial recognition technology that Sony uses with its digital cameras and camcorders.

Also,
the PSeye did NOT lose track of the fellows head. The CAMERAMAN could not get the camera he was holding directly behind the tracked head.
Since this was shown off by Sony devs at GDC and was given freely to developers...I am predicting that we will see this implemented in a game THIS year. R2 or KZ2 or both.
The thing I am most excited about is the PSeye and the PS3's ability to SEE your eyes and TELL what direction they are looking at. Think of the possibilities, you look in a direction and press the shoot button for instance.
With this tech and Home and Blu-ray and the KILLER software due this year...NOTHING can stand in the way of the PLAYSTATION 3. NOTHING

This is bogus, I tried it at GDC.
Unlike the Wii one, you need to close one eye for it to look 3D. It was also very glitchy, jumping around.
In order for it to work properly, you need the sensor stuff like shown for the Wii.

You needed to close one eye because you have depth perception. The same problem would exist no matter what system the program is running off. It only works so well in videos becuase video footage is 2D, with no depth perception at all.
The other problems could probably be fixed by better coding. What you saw was really just a prototype.

Seems disgustingly pointless.

It's actually pretty great to have in racing and flight games: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-0ZZJxOBQg&feature=related

Regardless of the differences between the various methods this is the one most likely to actually produce something. All it'd take is developing software for it and putting it on PSN like other PSEye games. That's much more viable for the developer than releasing something that has to either come with IR sensor shades or instructions for the person to put together their own.

Mmmkay. And thats not stealing...
But seriously, if Nintendo is too stupid to take a hold of the Wiimote's technological advantages, fine by me- I'm still playing Brawl on it. HAWHAWHAW.

This kind of thing has been done on PCs in cam2pan and freelook and the IR solution with TrackIR. I hope they've beefed up the camless tracking, because in all the other implementations I've seen, it's less reliable over time than IR.

This is nothing new or unique. It has been around in various forms for more than a decade. Every Webcam you buy for you PC supports head and face tracking.
I love the comment that "360 Can't touch this..." -- dude, this has been on PCs for a decade or more. And Microsoft has some of the leading research on how to do it. Check out this link: http://portal.acm.org/citation.cfm?id=1124772.1124936

I was talking about the tracking of what direction the users EYES are looking in.
Nice try though, and yes I know this has been around for a decade or so with webcams in general.
The fact that the PS3 has facial recognition technology on top of the fact that it can track what direction your EYES are looking in...is what in MY opinion sets this apart from the rest. Not to mention it is a FIRST on a console that was introduced by a console makers DEVELOPMENT team.
