Of course, as Capcom already proved with its RE4 Wii-make, those old GameCube games are missing something; add a little wiggle, a little waggle, then reboot to retail and -- voila! -- it sells (we swear).
Resident Evil Zero port waggling onto Wii
55
Resident Evil is going backwards on Wii. The last of the series' antiquated entries, Resident Evil Zero, is headed back to GameCube, er, Wii, reports Famitsu. You may recall that Zero debuted on GameCube in late 2002, and digging deeper, you may even be able to uncover an actual copy already existing in your game library. Dust that thing off, pop it in your Wii, and -- voila! -- it plays (we swear).

Count me in. I got to the second disc, but never beat this. I would be glad to drop $30 like I did for RE4WE.

Umm, why would you pay more $ for a game you already paid money for and probably still have (you said you got to the second disk)??. Just pop that disk back in a play it till the end- it's free that way. The Wii version will be no different except for tacked on waggle.
I hate to say it (because I've loved Nintendo since the NES/SNES days) but the Wii is becoming a scam and just an esay way for companies to make a quick buck (RE4 Wii, RE zero Wii, etc) so they can make real games on other systems (DMC4, Lost Planet, Dead Rising, etc). I love Mario Galaxy and MP3 and Brawl will be awesome- but these uncalled for ports and crap wii games will not stop if everyone keeps buying them.

I can't blame Capcom. They're trying to move the industry forward by making new games of this generation with current tech. The wii has such a large install base, it would be stupid not to try profit off of it. It's not Capcom's fault that the wii can't keep up with the likes of DMC4 and what not. Besides, look how well RE4 sold for the Wii. Of course they're going to try to cash in the same way.

Tom-
If you played RE4 for the Wii, the Wiimote actually aims much better than the dual analog sticks that were native to the Gamecube. However, due to the fixed camera angles used in RE0, I don't know how well the Wiimote control will work.

Sorry Tom, -1 for you. I would be out if I still had the game. But I sold it. So buying this at $30 would be nice. i loved RE4 WE. So yeah.... Sorry to say I don't think the Wii is a scam or a stupid platform. I LOVE IT.

Except for the fact that the game still uses pre-rendered backdrops. Which sucks, but the controls in this game were actually quite comfortable with the gamecube controller.
side note, i played this game over the holiday, and it's still the bitch that all resident evil games are. But for some reason, i was hooked and kept playing. It was ten times better than that crap that was code veronica.

Well if you want an idea of what it's going to look like on the Wii just look at any picture of it on the Gamecube.

This was the one RE (of the core 5 or 6) that I missed. I'll most likely be picking it up if they can clean up the controls for the Wii.

That would be awesome, It would be called the Super Double Port Value Pack. It would have the Resident Evil 2+3 ported from Dreamcast to Gamecube to Wii!

Easy money for Capcom. Plenty of people are willing to play an obvious cash-in for an opportunity to play with their Wii. =)
Decent game on the GC ... if you're a story-hound, having played it once will probably be enough. Too many other games out there to play this one twice.
First times though, have fun. It's a respectable, though note great, Resident Evil game. Doesn't hold a candle to RE4, RE2 or the overhauled GC Resident Evil - which would, in my mind, potentially justify another $ outpouring.
Sans seriously upgraded graphics, re-arranged puzzles, added content and so forth, I'll finger twitch elsewhere.

People may complain about the old videogame revamps/ports onto the Wii, but I think that it suits best for demographics like mine:
I didn't get the chance to grow up in a videogame-rich environment like most of you. I missed out on many great titles that way. If I had a Wii, this would be a great chance for me to live those classics I've heard so much about once upon a time.
So please, consider that next time you're going to bash about older games being remade onto a newer console.

This is, conceptually, a good point. But you have to realize a few things:
First, foremost, and most obvious, any GCN game can be played on Wii. If you are buying the Wii rerelease, this means you own a Wii - this means you can buy the GCN version. Sure, some games are harder to find than others, but this is not one of those cases. Additionally, by way of PSN, XBLA/Originals, and VC, most major games from generations previous to backwards compatibility are being reintroduced at more reasonable pricing.
Second: Some games warrant remakes/rereleases. Some don't. While RE4 was a landmark title, RE0 was not, nor is, for instance, Bully. While these games are certain to sell in their rereleased form, its insulting that so many games (and especially one this old) are coming out again.
Which brings me to my third point - progress. Sure the industry's about making money. But a company like Capcom certainly has the funds to finance and original game, that could likewise make even more money than a remake. Although we don't expect this from such largescale corporations, we all still reserve the right to gripe at the debasement of a medium that is obviously so important to us that we're commenting on Joystiq.

Ditto. Well I was busy with college and university. I graduated in the summer and have a really good job which leads me with lots of free time and money.
Roll on games I missed!
Also would it kill Irem to bring R-Types 1-3 and Leo to the PSP. FFS!
I don't know where that came from.

After playing the RE4 Wii edition, I can't for the life of me see how RE5 will be as enjoyable... it's going to be real hard to go back to dual analog after having played the greatness that is RE4 aiming with the Wiimote.

This is one of those things done for Japan, because the Japanese missed out or ignored the first time around.
Ask most owners of a Wii in Japan what a Gamecube was, they won't know or just vaguely understand. They still won't know most of the games from the system due to how unpopular it was.
So by brining Resident Evil 0 to Wii, Capcom is going to introduce to a lot of new people.
It's cheaper to port over, make on DVD, and has essentially a brand new group. It's smart for them to do so in Japan.
Now if they bring it out in other lands where Gamecube did do well and that you could find the Gamecube version somewhat easily, then it would be foolish.
Just remember, Japanese gamers didn't get Gamecube.
Japanese gamers are getting Wii.
Cheap and easy port to those who didn't see it the first time around.
Easy profit.

Take that! people who thought the Wii was a repackaged GC. Your wrongness has never been so wrong.
also, this in no way supports the completely bogus theory that nintendo fans will buy the same crap over and over and over again.

I can't wait for the day that they announce a Final Fantasy 7 remake and everyone goes crazy. "Now with new graphics" and the thing would sell millions.
I guess you could say we all buy the same crap over again; look at how many sequels and plain ports are amongst the top selling games of every console imagined.

RE4 coming to the Wii was a damn good port, I played the game several times on my cube, and on Wii it was better the controls added so much.
I still own RE-zero, I really don't see how they can make it on Wii any better. This pointless, Capcom could just re-release it and place a sticker 'play on your wii' for budget price.
I want RE2/3 totally remade with RE4 engine.

Like others have said, there's a big difference between a port that is pretty much exactly the same as the GC version and a "refresh" with IR aiming like RE4 did. Honestly, I can't see them doing the full treatment, for as DangerMouse pointed out, RE0 was the last of the series to use pre-rendered backgrounds.
But unlike DM, I thought Code:Veronica was a top-shelf RE game, and like RE4 it used 3d modeled environments so it *could* be updated to the IR aiming style rather easily.
Honestly, I'd buy the whole damned series over if the re-released them with RE4 style controls. So sweet...
