Am I the only one here who thinks that that kind of pricing is unacceptable. Wii Fit was a maybe for me before, but if I have to shell out €90 for it, then it's a no way. For that I could get Advance Wars and Z-Dub!

Anyone who reads IGN will know that in their recent survey (which got a massive 6116 people), less than 15% of people said they'd buy the game if it's over $89.99. I'm very much in the side that wouldn't.

How can Nintendo expect casual gamers to want to pay that much for what is, in all reality, a bunch of mini-games with yet another peripheral. Is there even any evidence this stuff helps you lose wait yet?

Why does it seem like the more the Dollar falls on the markets, the more Europeans get shafted? It's almost funny, in a sad kind of way.

It probably *is* funny to economists.

Because it looks cool. Don't underestimate peoples' drive to spend obscene amounts of money due to their emotional reactions, without having even tried the game or reading any reviews.

The majority of people, IMO, have no concept of manufacturing costs, either. It probably costs Nintendo $8 to make the board with the wireless chip and bundled batteries, to say nothing of the cheap dev cost of the software. That is soooo totally worth $100!

Hell, I was sure the Wii would launch for $200 before the system was revealed at E3, but after seeing the long lines of people waiting to try out the machine, I knew Nintendo would jack up the price to $250. They did.

Nintendo knows casual gamers will buy this all over. All they need to do is advertise it as an add-on to their Wii Sports Machine and it will sell millions.

If there's one thing I learned from living in France for a while, it's that products usually cost in Euros what they cost in US Dollars (especially games- often even more in Euros), despite the 40% difference in value... For example, I paid €40 for the DS Internet Browser, and €35 for one of the DS Castlevanias (used).

I'll second the guess that it'll debut here at $79 or $89.

Casuals will probably gobble this up nonetheless. Anyone else might want to have future more meaty games support it and a pricedrop I'd guess.

All in all I play too little to justify buying it. Apart from that I get my excersize in other places.

This is correct.

Casuals already pay $250 for Wii Sports.
They won't balk at the idea of another $100 for Wii Fit.

I was thinking of getting Wii Fit at launch but now I think I'll wait until it comes down in price a bit, or maybe until another game comes out that justifies the Balance Board.

Is the board really that expensive/complicated that it can add another £30-40 to the price of a game? I doubt it.

I don't think you people understand the value of this exciting new technology. It's not JUST a wii-fit controller, Nintendo will be unveiling some surprise functionality:

A) Wii-fit board features enhanced doormat capabilities. When your guest steps on it at the front door, it says "HEY-A WELCOME TO-A MY-A HOME-A".

B) If you remove the top plastic, there is a bonus surprise heating coil so you can invite your friends over for some tabletop sukiyaki, or perhaps a pot of fondue.

C) Have a door that just won't stay open? Just wedge your wii-fit board into the crack and it holds the door open for hours and hours! No power necessary!

D) Plug in your favorite headphones and take your wii-fit board on the road! Just step on the left or right side to change tracks. Of course, it is only in mono, but portable music was never such good exercise until now.

E) Hard to reach that top shelf in the kitchen? Wii-fit board has been engineered with the latest height-enhancement technology. Just place it under the area you want to reach, step up and you will magically be a few inches taller than you were!

Now, tell me again if this isn't worth the price.

For that much it's safe to say it's DOA.

The game isn't anything special so why does the damn board cost so much?

$100 for a big paperweight is way way WAY too much. The most I could see this being is $70. GH is a better game, you know there will be more of them so it's not a waste of money.

This could very well be a huge waste of money.

Nice job Nintendo, you fucked up yet again.

Hey such "innovation" does not come cheap.
Man the Wii is going to have a stellar 2008 with yet another AAA title that puts Sony's lineup to shame.
That's it...I am going on Ebay right now and buying the most innovative and best priced console of this generation. And it will only cost me $400.

Wii on fellas

The sad thing is that no one even pays any attention to your posts because of how much of a fanboy you are. Even if you have a valid point every once in a while no one will notice it because right when they see your name they know that your comment is just something pro-sony.

Actually I just saw your name, I didn't read your first post at all. I did read the one that was a reply to mine. The funny thing is your whole point fails because I have a PS3 and not a Wii. You are exactly the Nintendo fanboy you are describing, on every article that says something negative about anything regarding the PS3 you try to defend it by saying something "bad" about another console. For example on the article about Haze yesterday people called it generic and all you could say was something about how the Wii has generic games on it.

Hands up who thinks that many casuals and non-gamers will buy this thinking its a DVD workout system 'from the guys who brought you wii' and not realise you actually need the wii to play it.

The price is kinda ridiculous, i cant see many people shelling out that much for it, especially since dance mat games are is practically the same thing for way cheaper (and actually have a competitive gameplay aspect!)

I have no interest in this peripheral or any games that come out for it even if the price was $5.

WiiFit = dumbest.idea.ever.

And I've owned plenty of gimmick short lived peripherals (ie the PowerGlove, which was not "so bad" like Lucas said it was.)

So Japanese people are the smartest in the world and if they purchase it, it's solid gold then eh?

Question for you then -
would you also say that the rest of the world does not know that hentai and alien tentacle/monster rape porn is the best porn in the world?

Or that subway train sims are the greatest thing since sliced bread #2 aka Final Fantasy?

Thought so.

Japanese people are weird and fickle. Don't take their sales numbers as anything but sales numbers.

Lol what a douche.

I've heard so much excitement for this thing from non-gamers that I'm worried there will be none left for me come launch day. There's a mad hype for it.

Oh and following your own advice, all you're hearing here is the comments from gamers who were never the market for this product. And you're calling it a failure already (despite it being the complete opposite in Japan). You make me laugh.

Wiifit will sell very well. Just not to gamers.

WiiSports part 2 says hi.

I'll buy that.

Oddly enough it comes to the same price as what my bro paid for Halo 3 and its "DLC", or Oblivion and the DLC. Or any other game. But in this case you get hardware with it.

£70. I'm there. But I was expecting £80-90.

Roll on release date!

Well, certainly not worth it for one game. But it would be a worthy price if you get something like a new 1080, some kinda skating game, and Wii Fit, and the board

For a single-use peripheral? No, but if it gets utilized well (which is still up in the air), i'll totally go for that

Just checked yesterday and in Netherlands Guitar Hero 3 costs 99,99€. Which is also the same I paid in Norway for Guitar Hero 2. I wouldn't say the wired guitar in Guitar Hero is any more worth than the Wii Fit board. So I wouldn't say their European price is totally off. Not when it comes to Norway or Netherlands at least.
