Of course he lives in a different world from us. We at least have the moral fibers to uphold human life, other than viewing it as perishable.

I'm amaze with all the pyschology research we do with murders and such that people are still surprised to what seem to be 'common' symptoms of your typical nut case. /rant and a *Sigh*

Even if he wasn't living in "another world"... he most surely will be when he moves to that nice penitentiary cell in the l33t wing!

I hope this guy gets life. Its obvious he suggested this defense to his attorney, and if our justice system still works, then it will fail him worse than an original NES front-loader.

Awww, I feel sorry at myself. When I saw that list of bad things, I immediately thought "He's obviously trying to get past an evil robot bear and make his way into a cave."

There are so many comments in this thread that are full of win that I can't even respond to just one. Plusses all around!

And seriously, this son of a bitch stabbed an old man SEVENTY GOD DAMNED TIMES and came armed like Sam freaking Fisher? You can't use video games as an excuse for that. Holy hell..

Wow! He must have been playing that new game from Take2: 'Shoot, Stab, and Gouge out their 80yr. old Eyeballs'

I always thought playing that game might lead to people acting those things out in the real world.

If there is any consistency in thw world, then Foz News will latch onto this like a baby to a boobie.

And now, we wait. Y'know, for the shitstorm.

How about blaming CSI instead of games. After watching a marathon I now know how to murder someone, dismember their body, dispose of the pieces, and frame someone else for it all. Meanwhile I get away scott free. Thanks CBS and CSI. On the other hand if I treated games as an outline for murdering people I would be standing in the middle of the street throwing grenades at cars. I doubt I could get away with that.

You've got to admit though, it does sound kinda fun.

Give me a break.....no one ever looks at the other more important factor:

These drugs that doctors keep forcing you to take. It's like almost everything is a fucking disorder. Such as sadness, depression, fustration, feelings that are NATURAL EMOTIONS, and yet they tell you to take paxil or prozac and shit. These things has been proven recently to make people go crazy. And that's exactly what happened here.

But instead, these ambulance-chasing lawyers just looking for big fat check will blame the dumbest things. If only Phoenix Wright was a real person...

There's a difference between feeling sad, frustrated or angry for short bursts, and being completely and totally consumed by those emotions every waking moment of your life.

Thats the difference between being "sad" and being "depressed". Sad is sad for a few days. Depressed is sad for a few months. Big difference.

Games don't make people kill others, asshole lawyers like this do. But yeah this guy is a total psychopath and should fry, so should his lawyer for the defense he concocted.

Millions of people play video games (note that they didn't mention by name any game he was supposedly living out) and identify as "computer geeks". I wonder why none of them retreat into their own little fantasy worlds and use it as an excuse for brutally murdering people?

Maybe it's because they aren't psychotic to begin with.

Wow. This guy is insane. Both the murderer and his attourney are. How the hell do you stab someone over 70 times and gouge out their eye? Jeez, what does one think of while doing something like this? I hope he gets butt-raped in prison.

I didn't kill the people, my video games did.

I didn't fire the gun, the gun shot itself.

If I don't see it, it's not illegal.

I'd like to see the ignorance emanate from the lawyer as he tries to seriously explain how "a video game made him do it". It would look something like cartoon stink lines.

He stabbed the guy 70 times?! What game has you stab anything 70 times. Maybe the widower was a boss, but that still wouldn't explain the eye gouging part.

Ditto everyone about being tired of games being used as a scapegoat. "Acted out as if in a video game"?! I mean, really? In what game do you shoot, stab over 70 times, and gouge the eye of an elderly man? This gets me really irritated.
