No demo for Grand Theft Auto IV
OK, so that doesn't necessarily have us worried about the quality (it is GTA after all), and their excuses for going sans demo do make sense. But will that stop us from being moderately grumpy for the next hour as a result? No. No it won't.

the only reason you see much more of gta4 then the previous gtas is because it was delayed if it was on time we would have gotten like 2 trailers and the game would come out a week after the second trailer.

NO FUCKING DUH!! This is fucking rockstar we're talking about. Since when do they need to put out a demo to get people to buy this game.
(Sandbox gameplay + quality + insane fun) x 3 installments = Brand Loyalty
...And it will make a lot more sense to you. There are certain directors or writers that I will always give the benefit of the doubt and see their films, sometimes avoiding the trailers and commercials if I can. For me, GTA:IV is one of those things that I'd rather NOT have a demo for; I want to buy it, head home, and just be engrossed in it for the first time.
good, they will have less things delaying the final product.
I'm sure a month or so later they'll release one.

I would never have bought crackdown without its demo, just like I probably won't buy GTA4 without playing it extensively first.

anyways, not surprising. It isn't like Rockstar needs to put out a demo.

Im not going near this game with a 10 foot pole. They lost a sale here.
I was never interested in or cared about saints row and then I saw the demo on marketplace. I tried it and liked it alot, so I bought the game. If your game is good, a demo can only be good for you and you have no need to worry. But when you pull this kind of crap, you know the game is going to be crap. Halo 3 didnt do this. They knew the game was good and showed it off. Something this game would be doing if it was any good.

Honestly these Grand Theft Auto games are hindered by their simplistic sand-box design. I ended up plaything a little of the story then wandering off and doing whatever I wanted til I got bored and never played again. I still feel cheated out of my 7.50 for San Andres. I won't be even considering this game without some form of demo and even if there was a demo I'd have to be really fucking bored to download it.
That said I did enjoy Grand Theft Auto III a great bit, but their isn't much need to anymore unless you want to check out the new novelty radio stations or you feel the need to check out the new and improved gameplay (READ: We have kites and submarines now!!! That's worth something right??? Please buy our game...)
You say you need a demo? Then this game isn't for you.
Nice that the PS3 version is looking to be better looking version. I can give the DLC a miss, as it's not out til mid-2009, by then XBoxes will be available for $20 in the junk shops..

With people like Jack Thompson looking to boycott the release of the game, maybe not giving them any material to work with before release is a good call.
