Future Futurama flick features extra Xbox episode

Years before EA turned The Simpsons into a minor tragedy of a 3D action-adventure game, Vivendi Universal tried to bring another Matt Groening creation to the video game realm. Unfortunately, 2003's Futurama game for the Xbox and PS2 ended up meeting with widespread critical derision and low sales (the PS2 version is said to be one of the rarest games of recent times). We say "unfortunately" because those low sales mean most people missed out on the game's hilarious cut scenes, which were written and animated by the TV show's production team and amount to a practical "lost episode" of the cult hit.

Not to worry, lazy fans -- TVShowsOnDVD reports that the next straight-to-DVD Futurama movie will include an "extra episode from an Xbox game" as a bonus feature when it comes out on June 24. Impatient souls can watch some of the cut scenes through the magic of the internet, but you'll have to wait for the DVD for an exclusive commentary track over the Xbox episode, meatbag.
