Aww , where's Touch of Grey?
. . . I actually know that one !
whymog @ Feb 29th 2008 1:28PM
Funny you mention it. This was just published on Achewood yesterday: http://www.achewood.com/index.php?date=02282008

Come on people, vote at
http://unspun.amazon.com/Most-Wanted-Artists-to-Be-DLC-in-Rock-Band/list/show/14562
for your favorite bands so we can show HMX exactly what we want! I've noticed the list is getting much more settled near the top plus the list is currently 8th place of all time on unspun. Meaning the list is gaining momentum.
Fernando Rocker @ Feb 29th 2008 1:05PM
Well... semi-decent music at least...
Better than No Doubt.
Kizzle @ Feb 29th 2008 1:21PM
A razor-wire enema is better than No Doubt.
That said, I'll be skipping this week. Good to see a nice variety of stuff still showing up though.
3cubed minus 3squared plus1 @ Feb 29th 2008 3:35PM
I'm curious Fernando.
Yesterday you said you didn't like Mana or Molotov, so what do you like?
Matt B @ Feb 29th 2008 1:06PM
Ahhh..it brings me back to the days me and flower girl would smoke KB and drop acid and sway to the music... from show to show selling vegi-burgers in the parking lot to raise money to get to the next show. Going weeks unshowered....
Oh wait..no. I can't stand hippies.
baby sea tuna @ Feb 29th 2008 2:25PM
As someone who's worked a 9-5 job for the past 5 years, that sounds like a dream come true, actually.
Well, all except for the showering thing...
OMGOMG @ Feb 29th 2008 1:06PM
Am I the only one who didn't like the Grateful Dead?
Brian @ Feb 29th 2008 1:12PM
No, your not the only one. But I will still purchase Casey Jones and Truckin. They are decent songs that everyone else will like.
Alienhead @ Feb 29th 2008 2:12PM
I never cared for them. Found the music pretty bland and boring.
Hoamer @ Feb 29th 2008 4:18PM
no, you are not alone in your indifference to the GD. i went to a show in oakland in 1991 and left after about an hour. had fraternity brothers pissing in my ear the week prior about how i was going to be blown away, etc. well, after a few joints, a fistful of mushrooms and at least 10 beers i was bored stiff. i love live music, but that wasnt entertaining.
THE WICKER MAN (BWF) (GT: Dalek Prime) @ Feb 29th 2008 4:44PM
im not into them but i do like variety and will give these a shot. They will at least be fun to play with friends on the weekend.Whos Next pwease.
Zoot Suit Jedi @ Feb 29th 2008 4:56PM
Second most overrated band of all time...just behind The Beatles.
Adam @ Feb 29th 2008 1:06PM
Break out your Bobby cut-offs!
FrankTheCrank @ Feb 29th 2008 1:11PM
Someone should keep a running tally as to how much the entire Rock Band experience costs if you were to buy a full setup and all the songs available.
It's got to be running near $400 by now.
jsn @ Feb 29th 2008 1:22PM
Someone had that posted on their forums, before this current pack it was just under $300 for everything so far.
Jonah Falcon @ Feb 29th 2008 1:13PM
No Dark Star, either?
waynski1457 @ Feb 29th 2008 1:14PM
i know this has nothing to do with the greatful dead at all, but for some reason this post made me realise how much i want a good dire straits pack for rock band. just wanted to say that.
Neon Jebus @ Feb 29th 2008 1:22PM
Man I would be all over that!
I've thought the same thing about country music. Which is odd because I hate country music. But I think it should be available for those that like it.
Dan Davis @ Feb 29th 2008 1:26PM
Yeah, how kick ass would it be to pull off the Mark Knopfler guitar solo at the end of "Sultans of Swing"?
SWEET!
waynski1457 @ Feb 29th 2008 2:06PM
exactly what i was thinking!
Bryan @ Feb 29th 2008 6:23PM
One of the only packs I would shell out full price for.
Gavin @ Feb 29th 2008 1:17PM
The past few weeks have left me out of the loop because to me, Rock Band is the most fun with classic rock. Now I can get me some Casey Mother Fucking Jones action I am as happy as a little girl.
Dan Davis @ Feb 29th 2008 1:19PM
Yawn. The least they could've done was include "Touch of Grey" and "Friend of the Devil".
I do like the Rock Band sixer, though!
konajinx @ Feb 29th 2008 1:20PM
Gee, I thought people wanted to play Rock Band to have fun, not be bored. Oh well, sell some plates of spaghetti and dingleberry necklaces and wristbands in your favorite parking lot to keep Jerry Bear's legacy alive, kids. Blech.
Jonah Falcon @ Feb 29th 2008 1:21PM
Even if you hate The Grateful Dead, you have to really appreciate the content. This is probably what Harmonix was going to do with Guitar Hero II (360)
kiwi @ Feb 29th 2008 1:22PM
YES!!
TooManyDinners @ Feb 29th 2008 1:23PM
1.wheres touch of grey god dammit!
and
2.what happened to the thrash metal?
Jonah Falcon @ Feb 29th 2008 1:30PM
1. Thrash metal all sounds the same
2. It's called variety.
Fernando Rocker @ Feb 29th 2008 1:34PM
3. Trash metal sucks.
TooManyDinners @ Feb 29th 2008 1:47PM
I actually agree with both of you on all accounts
im just curious what happened to it
tmacairjordan87 @ Feb 29th 2008 2:38PM
real thrash metal from the early 80s to the very early 90s is amazing. MUCH better than all this stoner rock and redneck rock that's bombarding this game right now. It's also the most challenging music for a game like this too and will actually keep me awake while playing.
Now, the stuff coming out in a couple weeks that harmonix labeled thrash pack is not anywhere near thrash, it's just death metal wannabe garbage.
baby sea tuna @ Feb 29th 2008 2:45PM
Dear god I *wish* they'd put some more stoner rock in this game. Witch or Dead Meadow or Spirit Caravan or some effin Kyuss. Man, I'd kill for some Kyuss...
obo @ Feb 29th 2008 7:36PM
Oh man, put some Boris on this.
It'll never happen, but I would buy it 10 times.
tim @ Feb 29th 2008 1:27PM
didn't they say they were gonna have full albums? where is 'who's next' and 'nevermind'?
Shagittarius @ Feb 29th 2008 1:41PM
I've had it with no full motherfucking albums in this motherfucking game.
Jonah Falcon @ Feb 29th 2008 1:31PM
Be happy they're all master tracks.
bounchfx @ Feb 29th 2008 1:39PM
FUCK WHERE IS THE THRASH PACK.
FUCK
bounchfx @ Feb 29th 2008 1:47PM
ok, my initial rage has subsided. many of these songs actually sound really fun to play!
klitorisaurus @ Feb 29th 2008 1:43PM
SIX?! I hope this is the start of a trend!
George McBain @ Feb 29th 2008 1:43PM
Well, this was what I was waiting for. Looks like I am buying Rock Band this week; awesome.
KilgoreTrout XL @ Feb 29th 2008 1:45PM
Touch is a nice little tune but overrated. It popularized the dead out of existence, basically, and aside from the scarlet-touch-fire stuff in the early 80s never had much to offer live. I dunno. I would have liked to see a jam, like help-slip-franklin, or something of that ilk. I'm not stupid enough to believe that that would ever happen, of course. This'll do.
I notice they did the democratic thing and put three Bobby tracks and three Jerry tracks on the release. That's fine, but Miracle can't hold a candle to the rest of the stuff up there. Jack Straw would have been my choice.
I'll be picking these up regardless, of course.
KilgoreTrout XL @ Feb 29th 2008 1:46PM
Jack straw? No. Uncle is what I meant. Oops.
kiwi @ Feb 29th 2008 2:09PM
No reason to change your choice, Jack Straw would be an AWESOME song to play...
And the line coming out of the jam is always a fun one to sing. "Jack Straw from Wichita, cut his buddy down..."
KilgoreTrout XL @ Feb 29th 2008 2:18PM
Kiwi: Jack Straw is undoubtedly one of their best- I was just talking about Jerry vs. Bobby songs. They share so many verses in Straw that I don't this it's either one of their songs- one of the rare "shared" tunes. Me & My Uncle = definitely a weir song.
And the section you mentioned is probably my favorite part of the tune, especially when Jerry's pumped up enough to shout them ;)
This is great and all, but we were promised whole albums! Hopefully these'll sell well and more will come down the pipeline.
J @ Feb 29th 2008 5:18PM
You know it's a Bob song if someone's getting shot.
Oscar Wojciechowski-Prill @ Feb 29th 2008 1:47PM
This is great news. I like lots of the content they already have but I wanted my parents to play and they just couldn't get into much of what's offered. Not that my parents are even dead fans, they like the game and want less abrasive music and this is it.
greenmonk @ Feb 29th 2008 1:49PM
First, I get that not everyone loves the Grateful Dead, but those of us that do like jam and classic rock this is a huge thing. Not enough Classic Rock DLC so far in my opinion, with way more of it heavier or faster or more modern. I didn't spit venom at the Metallica and Punk fans when they had their week.
This is a band that built its fans based on live performance too, which seems perfect for Roack Band. And with my friends at least, these will be crowd favorites for late night Rock Band sessions. "I need a miracle" makes me think of wookies in the lot hoping to get gifted a ticket more than the song, but the other 5 are bigtime solid Dead songs. Touch of Grey might have been their biggest commerical hit, but real Dead fans don't really consider it a highlight, so its omission doesnt suprise or bother me at all. And Dark Star? are you kidding? thats like a 30 minute space jam improv song and wouldnt translate to Rock Band well... Friend of the Devil though, yeah, thats be nice. I'm totally in, though I do think the price of songs should be more in line with the disc cost, ie: 50+ songs for $50...
_JK_ @ Feb 29th 2008 2:00PM
I'll be grabbing Casey Jones & Truckin', then waiting a week. :)
