After seeing the trailer (and the reaction from the hardened, cynical journalists at the shindig) it was pretty much understood amongst the Joystiq crew that Battlefield Heroes was going to be "a thing." Do you and your friends have a similar understanding yet? Is this trailer not enough to put you over the edge? Have you no soul?

in the latest GFW mag, the project lead stated that they had their style down before TF2 was announced.

There are worse trains they could have picked to ride!
Though, really, they both just jocked off of the Incredibles which is in turn inspired by the artistic stylings of artists like Norman Rockwell and J. C. Leyendecker. Everything good is inspired by something else good, you know?

Just a bit yea!
The art hasn't got the same level of charm or brilliantness of TF2.
Further cementing the concept that EA are unoriginal, idea thieving and milking twunts trying to get a slice of TF2 pie.

Actually, in TF2 if you jump on the train you get killed. Even when Ubercharged.

They're not stealing credit for the style, and it's quite flattering towards Valve/Pixar for adopting this style that the latter generated.
I call this a trend.

The dig at the Pirate Bay made me LOL. Seriously though, I think the way PC game devs are going to beat the pirates is to use models like this. Give the core game away for nothing, then charge for cool DLC. That or use Steam.

But if you are a demoman you can jump the train, actually.

Actually that's the first reply that ever DIDN'T work for me on Joystiq.
Normally I have no clue what people complain about the reply system for.
Now I know.
And knowing is half the battle.

Personally, I like the setting of WW2 more than anything more modern; and seriously, Europe and northern Africa are huge places, no one can seriously complain about limited locations.
The dogfights possible in P-51D Mustangs and Messerschmitt Me 262 fighters in this setting are far superior to that of jet fighters that would be implemented in any game. That, and the marvel of the Panzer and Sherman Tanks rolling around.
The setting and its weapons/technology isn't played out (and I don't think it could ever be) -but- the ridiculous amount of half-assed FPSs set in WW2 is.
...
I'm going to reinstall BF1942 and its expansions again.

I think the WW2 shooter is way too overdone. You can talk about the vast amount of areas for maps and such but what it comes out to in the end is another shooter about world war 2. It seems to me that there are enough shooters in that era to make it's own genre of gaming. I'll probably play this because it's free and doesn't take itself seriously, but all the serious WW2 shooters just make me want to gag now. It's the constant repetition that makes something like Halo (Which I honestly think is mediocre) seem refreshing.

That trailer was so full of win. It was witty and humorous... and by EA? Is this legit?
I'm excited and will definitely use this as an alternative to my Team Fortress addiction.

Let's not forget though that the trailers for EA's Boogie on Wii were full of win, but the game sucked, hard.

I am completely psyched for this game... I have a feeling this will consume a big part of my summer if I'm not careful. It also seems like the perfect travel game (laptop) to play.

This trailer has an extra layer of winsauce, and as the IGN review for America's Army once said (approx):
"Any complaints we could level against this game have to be tempered by the fact that it's free. Try it, and if you don't like it, all you've lost is the half hour or so installing and playtesting"
So, yes, I will play this game. I think back to how much fun I had with GunBound, the free cartoon Worms-ripoff with optional paid DLC (which I never bought) and this could be a winnar!

The game itself looks pretty good, not sure about the character designs though. I'm a big advocate of cartoon graphics, but these look a bit ugly.
I'll definitely give it a fair try when it comes out though, especially seeing as it's free.

Disregarding the perfect balancing and design in TF2 I suppose.
I'd take perfection over a dogs breakfast with vehicles and "battlefront" (you must never have been on a 32 player TF2 server).
Somehow adding a vehicle makes a game better to Wing.

It's also free?
So, just play it, and if you like it, you win! If you don't, no biggie.
PS: I play TF2 religiously, but I think this has promise, especially for FREE.
