See the Battlefield Heroes debut trailer

We saw this trailer for Battlefield Heroes at an a EA/DICE party during GDC and it was enough to get us really, really excited for the game. Trust us on this one. As much fun as this looks in the video, it looks twice as good when you actually see it in action.

After seeing the trailer (and the reaction from the hardened, cynical journalists at the shindig) it was pretty much understood amongst the Joystiq crew that Battlefield Heroes was going to be "a thing." Do you and your friends have a similar understanding yet? Is this trailer not enough to put you over the edge? Have you no soul?

Wow. that looks....fun. Can't wait to try it.

Phew for a moment there I thought it was yet another WWII shooter but no is a WWII "Cartoon" shooter.

I think there is something wrong in making fun WWII.

Anyhow it recives points for using The incredibles art style that made TF2 fun and OVER 9000 intrenets for being free.

I like how they take the absurd gameplay of the previous Battlefields and multiply it.

In this case, multi-crewed vehicles. There are people sitting on the wings of airplanes doing full aileron rolls!!!

I felt uncomfortable through most of it. I've had no problem with WW2 games in the past but this just seems to trivialize the whole conflict in a really ugly way. The Pirate Bay dig was funny, however, but I see no reason why this had to be rooted in WW2, they could've just made up a completely fake conflict ala Advance Wars.

World War 2 was the unfunny sequel to WW1

Kinda funny how the website layout in the video looks like oh-so-many generic Korean MMMO websites.

I'll certainly give it a try, looks fun.

OH this very well may be good! I will jump on the excitement bandwagon!

At first I thought this was just a TF2 ripoff, but after this trailer I can see myself getting behind this game.

I'm not even a big fan of multiplayer online shooters but even I have to admit this looks like a good bit of lighthearted fun.

I knew this would start happening. In a sea of uber-realistic games, suddenly UNrealism would start to rise up and be the "new thing." It started with Team Fortress 2, which was the leader of the pack. It showed everyone that a cartoony shooter game could work and be extremely entertaining. That just opened the floodgates for more developers to do the same. Plus, the success of the Wii and the success of "casual gaming" also helped developers realize there's a market for games that are just... well... FUN!
