Currently in the wilds of Japan there are Street Fighter IV arcade machines available for public consumption. The Capcom Blog posted video of the game's newest build featuring Sagat and Balrog as bosses, but neither shows up on the character select screen. There are also three new battle locations.
North America: Drive-In at Night
South Asia: Beautiful Bay
South America: Inland Jungle
Capcom emphasizes that even if you hop on a plane right now to hunt down one of these machines in Japan that these are not the final build of the game. They are merely another iteration of SFIVfound at various conventions so far. But, if you happen to be over in Japan right now ... happy hunting!
You didn't read the article. It says Sagat and Balrog are unplayable boss characters. This video just shows someone playing as Zangief facing Sagat, controlled by the CPU.
why would you say that? you have no idea what difficulty he is playing. This is probably on easy mode.
I for one am really excited for this game. Huge fan of street fighter 2 as a kid and hated all the extra crap added as the series progressed. Good to see it back to its roots. I hope the achievements are not online based. Playing vs other humans non locally in 1 on 1 fighting games bores the hell out of me. I just like trying to beat the games on the hardest mode and playing with friends in vs.
Not test machines. Those are oftentimes free, like a public beta. Also, it's highly possible that he's playing another player, not the computer. Asian machines are laid out that each player gets his own cabinet, usually across from one another, so just because you see only one guy at a machine, doesn't necessarily mean he's playing by himself.
Even if it is, what's wrong with that? It's supposed to be easy to get into for fans of the original SF2, but not going too far overboard with crazy combos like in MVC.
I can honestly say I'm stoked about this game unlike any other game in recent memory.
Oddly, the look of the game reminds me of Killer Instinct.
@Mike - I really hope this isn't like SSFII. I personally find SFIII:TS to have the best fight model. Although CvSNK:Millionaire Fighting 2001 was pretty good too.
Roll and parry? this game does not feature parries, but zangief can eat certain attacks without stun. (noticed a glowing aura in a video, he still took damage but did a jab and cancelled into a super/ultra.
SFIV looks horrible. Just look at the video. The characters move like robots, with laggy, linear motions. And the figures, while being more detailed, look like a complete fucking mess of polygons and textures from a small distance. SFIII looks infinitely better, even though it only runs at 224x384.
I was very pissed at SF going 3D, but seeing what KOFXII is going to look like has lifted my spirits a bit. There's hope for great handdrawn animation yet!
Fireball Traps are back SON! The more I see, the more I hate this game(Gameplay, not visuals) Whatever, at least a few fans from back in the day are interested in this title. Besides, is a good year for fighting fans anyway.
Throw in Vega, Hugo, Rose, Necro, and Elena and I'm satisfied. But please leave Cammy and Akuma out of the game. I hated both of them, and could never understand why people like Cammy so much.
EDIT TO PREVIOUS COMMENT (hit enter a little too quickly)-
And Akuma just seems like a character that's tailor made to appeal to little kids who watch X-men. Not that I have anything against X-men, but little kids are annoying.
Akuma is overused so much. Just when SFIII couldn't use anymore Shotokan's, they throw him in the mix again, when they should've put Guile back in, since he'd been absent since SSF2T. Akuma was good when he was a complete, unstoppable badass, but now, he's just average.
And Cammy, i don't know, maybe animated thongs give players' boners. She's definitely one of the least interesting characters, imo.
My real complaint about Akuma is that he has too many moves. He's too damn powerful, so much that it should be impossible for a character like that to lose. That's why I think he should be left out (or put in as a boss character, at least that way it would make more sense).
Although I love SFII, it's really stupid to call this game SFIV... And it gets even more stupid when you consider that SFIIHD is coming this year as well...
I can't really say I'm overly excited or anticipating this game. It looks horrible, it seems to play horrible...what exactly is it that is drawing people in? Seems like they are trying to appeal to the Tekken/DoA/Soul Calibur crowd and moving away from their own fanbase.
Like Spinnet said, Street Fighter II HD is coming out soon. Pass on this.
