I picked up the Orange Box right before Xmas. I played through Portal a couple times. All my PC buddies insisted that I try out TF2. I really got into the whole idea. I enjoyed a game or two. But then... then it turned into total crap. The lag, oh my dear the lag. It was unbearable. I tried it once again a few weeks later only to discover it still was laggy as hell. Did they fix that? If so I'll get back in. If not it will continue to chill on my shelf until there is someone new to show portal too.

I had a similar situation. I loved the idea of TF2, but after I played a few games I came to the decision that this wasn't my thing. I still play every once in a while, but I'd prefer it if they added a death match sort of thing just to break up the monotony.

I loved TF2 when I first started playing it... but with all the issues on the xbox I moved to play it on pc... I might have to check it out now with the update... sadly the games probably won't be as fun due to the low number of players.. :-\

Death Match? Death match games are boring, and are all the same. You shoot stuff. The end. Team Fortress 2 is team-oriented (like it says in the name) and is tons of fun when your team acts like a team instead of a bunch of guys playing solo for points. There's actual strategy involved, too, which is a real plus.

"Fixed ping column sometimes getting hidden in some resolutions."

Thank goodness, it was a pain whenever I was searching for games and had to pick one at random and prey it wasn't laggy cause I couldn't see the ping bar.

The lag problem is caused by the host not having enough bandwidth for the maximum number of players. If you find a good host, the game is a blast to play.

My problem with TF2 is the fact that I love it, but the only thing I love about it is playing the intellegence mode which is capture the flag. Problem with that is, there is only one map available to play it on. While 2fort is a great map it gets old playing it over and over again. The other 4 maps in the game are basically annex mode from GOW and I hate annex:(
Please Valve, give us more Intellegence maps to play on or make it so we can play intellegence on the other existing 4 maps.

That's great but did they fixed Dustbowl and Granary exploits?

Also when are we going to get the new maps?

If you ask me TF2 is a friggin good game, even the watered down xbox version is great.Basically because is a game where skill and strategy dominates, not weapons.

For example last night 4 guys decided to do a deathmatch game,1 pyro and 3 snipers vs Me and 2 n00bs.

Well the 4 guys were pwning everyone that joined the play, except me.I manage to dominate them alone with my Spy.

It was great.

In response to Spine, here's the deal with the lag: it's the fault of people trying to host a game with more players then their bandwidth can support. So how you get around it.
1) Search for a game
2) Enter a game and notice lag.
3) Leave Game
3) Repeat until you find a game with no lag.
Sometimes you get lucky on your first try, but usually it takes a few tries. Sometimes you can search for 10 minutes and not find a decent game. Hopefully the changes in this update will help, but I doubt it.
It's worth it though, it's the best online game of all time in my opinion.

The PC version supports the 360 controller natively if anyone else wants to make the switch...I did because of the lag. And I agree with sgt_goomba that this is the best online game of all time. I laugh when I see people argue Cod4 vs. Halo3...they're both same old same old.

Yes this is also my favorite game which I will continue to play as long as I can find a game to get into. If only they could allow us 360 users to connect to the PC players that would be awesome.

But we need new maps lots of new maps there should at least be 2 maps per game type.

There's nothing like successfully defending yourself on stage 3 of Dustbowl, until some skywalking engineer builds a level 3 sentry next to the rocket in a place that your weapons cant reach. Yeah, um Valve, you missed that one.
