Dreamcast demo stand now sitting on eBay
Having sported a host of unique games and out-of-the-box online connectivity way back in 1999, the ill-fated Sega Dreamcast is unsurprisingly placed on many a gamer's pedestal. Of course, such praise is purely figurative and easily topped by the actual pedestal of sorts found in a Dreamcast demo unit. No longer standing proudly in a store, just such a full-sized stand (complete with two controllers and region-free console) You'll need a van to do the grabbing, mind you, as seller "no_effects84" is only entertaining pick-ups from his Leicestershire home in the UK. If you're in the area and have at least £230 ($456) to spare, the stand should make for an excellent conversation piece in your living room -- more so if you have Seaman running on it. Heck, the only thing holding us back is the bidding war with UK Resistance that's sure to ensue.
Update: It has since been sold for £300!

Thranx @ Mar 4th 2008 4:53PM
If it wasn't across the pond... it would be mine! 300 pounds... that's a steal!
rv @ Mar 4th 2008 8:23PM
But why?
You could hook it up to a better tv, and be able to sit down, if you bought a standalone.
Thranx @ Mar 4th 2008 9:10PM
Simply due to pure awesome. Need there be any other reason? (plus, I like to think myself a collector and it'd just be a cool piece to have)
Silly Sauce @ Mar 4th 2008 4:56PM
Man that would be so sweet for my game room!!
Zootittles @ Mar 4th 2008 5:04PM

I bought mine 5 years ago and paided around 100 bucks for it. Has a great monitor in it and looks great in my "arcade" room.

You'll never believe this... I was working in a games store in (Surrey, UK) a couple of years ago... we had to get rid of our old "pods" (demo stands). We had an N64 one and a Dreamcast one -exactly like the one pictured. We gave the N64 one to a children's hospice I think, and the Dreamcast one we offered as a prize in a competition...
It was a games related challenge, I don't remember what it was, but only one guy entered it (lol) so he won the DC demo stand. He came by with a van to take it home, which as I remember was quite some way away. It might be the same one! We told him it would be worth 300 odd quid too and he laughed at us. lol.
I asked if I could have it before they started the whole thing of course, offered £100 I think, to go to the company or to charity, but they declined. :(
NukeAssault @ Mar 4th 2008 5:11PM

todd @ Mar 4th 2008 5:24PM
Nice, just put my DC on ebay... gotta get rid of it.
umm....hello??? @ Mar 4th 2008 6:39PM
why would you do that?? it's capable of running one of the best NES emulators!
todd @ Mar 4th 2008 7:00PM
Need the money, loved it when I bought it new but no longer play it. Was cleaning out the attic and discovered I still had it.
Mr.ESC @ Mar 4th 2008 7:08PM
If it is in a good condition let me buy it.
Are you going to sell the games as well? I always wanted to play Sonic adventure 1 and 2.
todd @ Mar 4th 2008 7:12PM
No games, gave those, the controllers, the memory to a neighbor kid a while ago. His dad had a DC and I had just purchased a Xbox, he had only one controller and maybe 1-2 games so... here it is if you want to bid on it, can't go more than a few bucks really:

WiNG @ Mar 4th 2008 5:33PM
Joystiq, you guess:
WiNG is a Dreamcast fan: True or False?
Ken Seang @ Mar 4th 2008 5:41PM
Wow I haven't seen one of those in awhile. I remember the first time I saw it was at Sears and I was playing Sonic and NFL 2k. Remember that game, it was when football games were great!
Mills and Boom @ Mar 4th 2008 5:55PM
My word I liked the Dreamcast. It was a bit like a SNES to me in that I never had one but knew annoying twunts who did have one.
Used to wonder why any god would let such idiots have a system and I didn't.
Then I got one. Then I graduated university whilst the SNES and DC owners both became alcoholics and gamblers! LOL!
OTAM @ Mar 4th 2008 6:22PM
I'm glad I still have my Dreamcast. I actually just played Sword of the Bezerker and Tony Hawk 2 the other night.
What other system would have fantastic titles like Illbleed and Blue Stinger? XD
Shagittarius @ Mar 4th 2008 6:32PM
My love for you is like a truck, BERZERKER!
OTAM @ Mar 4th 2008 6:33PM
Would you like some making fuck,Berzerker?
todd @ Mar 4th 2008 7:18PM
Some great titles for it... played jet set, shenmue 1-2, headhunter (was amazing at the time), and a bunch of others, TH 1-2. AND you could download games online, burn a boot disc and play imported titles, didn't find out about that till later in.
Brucie B @ Mar 4th 2008 7:01PM
Would be Sweet for a game room!
Still got my Original Dreamcast!
Curtis Brunet @ Mar 4th 2008 8:01PM
So, I actually have one of these... not this exact one, but a Dreamcast cabinet. It was given to me cause it was going to be thrown out. They said it was "broken". I took it apart, cleaned it, and the only thing that was broken was the Dreamcast itself (even the TV was fine). So I just bought a new Dreamcast on eBay for 15$. Now it works great, I just never use it. Its more for show I guess. Anyone think I should sell it? Pics if you want them... curtis.brunet@gmail.com
Monge161 @ Mar 4th 2008 9:23PM
old times...
WLT @ Mar 4th 2008 10:44PM
I hope to make a game stand as fine as this one.
kevinski @ Mar 5th 2008 1:01AM
I'd kill for one of those.
Curmeo @ Mar 5th 2008 7:56AM
i dont get this obsession gamers got with the Dreamcast: GD-ROM was inferior compared to DVD, the DC controller was horrible in every way, except the VMU which was a kickass idea. and the game library wasnt anything special aside from a few gems here and there.
DC wasnt killed due to piracy, it was killed by Sony and by Sega's past mistakes which didnt leave the company much $$$ to work with.
ZeroCorpse @ Mar 5th 2008 2:05PM
Yay! Only $600 for an obsolete CRT television, unsupported game console, and $25 worth of plywood!
What a bargain! Does it come with a can of English sunshine, too?
hvnlysoldr @ Mar 9th 2008 9:32PM
Ahh the irony of finding these rare games and paraphanelia on a mass site be a major factor in actually acquiring them.
