Want to quiet down the extremely loud clackety-clack of the Rock Band drum kit? You could simply use a few circles of foam rubber, or, if you're like hacker David Yoon, you can create your own extremely cute miniaturized drum kit for quiet, pencil-stick, desktop drumming.
The hack, which includes a foot pedal made from two sandwiched CDs, has the added bonus of being playable in an extremely enclosed space and/or by an extremely agile mouse. So if you have either of those things (and a bit of technical know-how), give it a go. If you have neither, well ... just enjoy the picture.

some mods and stuff are cool, even when they're functionally retarded. This is not one of them..

I think it's kind of cool. I mean, it's got to be a hell of a lot easier to lug those little pads around in your pocket (probably not literally, due to breakage) instead of the actual drum kit though.
Maybe I just like the fact that someone did it. If it can be done, then why the hell not, right? Please don't take that as a literal question though, I know there are tons of arguments to dispute that.

I like how anyone with any electrical engineering skills automatically falls under the umbrella of "hacker" now.

Today I made this uber awesome mod! I went to a general store and bought a face plate for an outlet and painted it! THEN with a little technical know how, I carefully removed the face plate from the outlet in my living room and....REPLACED IT!
I just sent my mod to every forum and blog so keep your eyes peeled!

Wow. Sorry, I suck enough at drums, but I know that putting the burden of hitting the pads between my fingers instead of my arm/wrists is just going to result in epic failure. Seeing this made me think of arcade buttons though. I could see that working a lot better but of course completely out of style for drums.

Looks like Metroid Prime 3 in the background. Metroid and RockBand, this modder has excellent taste.
