No shirt? Sony launches official apparel program

Tired of searching Etsy in vain for fan-made God of War apparel? You're in luck! Sony today announced partnerships with four different clothing and accessory makers to feature the company's biggest franchises on all sorts of shirts and such. IV Gear has a list (shown above) of at least some of the franchises which will be depicted, including God of War, Ratchet & Clank, Resistance: Fall of Man, Heavenly Sword and Little Big Planet. Apparel makers Fortune Fashions, Bioworld and MJC will also put the games' logos and character on everything from hoodies to handbags.

"PlayStation is an extremely strong and well-known brand" Shelly Gayner, Director of Licensing, SCEA, said in a press release "We feel that this is a great opportunity for us to satiate our core fans and extend and capitalize on PlayStation name recognition by creating a new line of apparel in connection with the PlayStation brands and our top franchise titles." I recommend optitions, get an eye test while your at it, cos you might have passed the games section of the stores you were in.

Hm, saying that, you might just be able to get away with a GT shirt, or a PS shirt or Xbox shirt, doubt a Wii shirt would go down well, nevertheless, they would have to be fairly small logos.

I love that society has evolved to the point where we can talk about a game shirt and not have to resort to "what kind of geek wants his ass kicked" comments.

Wow I cant wait to wear this and show off how much of a loser I am to everyone. Something like this would be better if they offer this to the fans as free content thru PSN. Maybe its all these items are left over swag from previous E3 when people use to actually like going to it.

The thing is, when I picture anybody wearing a t-shirt with gaming anything on it, I see them as a pimply, oily loser that is sitting in the corner by himself playing Sex Sim 4000 on his DS or whatever.

That's ironic because anytime I picture the kind of guy who leans upon cliche stereotypes like a fat woman leans on an Amigo in a walmart, I picture some over muscled twat who's still upset he's serving Taco Bell value meals to all those "geeks" he hated in high school. Funny how that works.

When your single you don't wear your video game shirts, then once you are with someone you slowly introduce them into the clothes you wear. My girlfriend that I've been with for 2 years hated games, after we had been together a bit I slowly tricked her into playing games one at a time and now she loves them and doesn't mind spending a weekend playing games.

What's the story here? They all license their logo's for T-Shirts. Just the other day I saw XBOX360 and Wii shirts over at Kohl's. It's not uncommon.

Do people think you will get beat up for wearing Sony shirts? Because I proudly wear my Pac-Man hoodie everywhere, have various Nintendo shirts, and wear my Xbox 360 promo shirt all the time... I've gotten countless compliments on all of them...

Yeah but the thing is, that's old school. if you wear a Zelda or Mario shirt, people will be like, HOLY SHIT!!! I USED TO FUCKING PLAY THAT!!! but if you're walking around wearing a goddamn Final Fantasy shirt, well chances are you'll get your ass beaten.

Yeah, you guys are way too cool to wear a gaming tee or hoodie or whatever. Strange, when I was in the videogame industry...people would ask me all the time where I got my Pogo the monkey shirt or Manhunt shirt or FFX hoodie. And not one time did someone beat me up or even threaten to beat me up. Thanks to Sony...games are cool, they have been since just after the release of the 1st Playstation.

I was going to say something like that, but I thought it would be a bit too mean.

I'm kidding, but the concept is still kinda lame, back in the day wearing a lara croft tshirt was okay, but today, being much older and wiser, I wouldn't be found dead wearing something like Little Big Planet shirt, had it been GT or just maybe a God of war, then theres a chance, but only certain games with smaller more exciting logos, rachet and clank top just wont do, but put a patapon instead of the logo on a shirt, and I wouldn't mind buying.

personally I find a white plain t-shirt with only the logo pretty disgusting. If I'm wearing a video game t-shirt, it's gotta look pretty kick ass. I have one black t that has the whole first level of Donkey Kong on it. I'm not ashamed to wear that in public.
