Try Zack & Wiki and feel bad about yourself for free
24
Are you the type of person who enjoys games that make you feel like you're a worthless, sniveling simpleton? If so, you should really pick up Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure. Don't believe us? Then head over to the Nintendo of Europe site (hit the "Gameplay" tab), where there's now a flash demo for Capcom's piratey, puzzley romp. We spent three mugs of coffee and an unhealthy portion of our morning staring slack-jawed at this conundrum, our peanut-sized brains straining at the exertion of it all.
Sadly, those who have played through the adventure game will find nothing new here -- we are reliably informed that this exact same puzzle appears around one-third of the way through the game. Not that we would know, for our copy sits shamefully on our "to do" pile, silently mocking us.

Are you kidding me? Crack that baby open and start playing now. Z&W is one of the best 3rd party Wii games out. It's difficult at times (which is good in my book) and a ton of fun.
It took me about 20 hours to work through the game. That demo is one of the earlier and easier puzzles. Take the time you spent on it and multiply it by about ten and that's about how long you'll spend on the final puzzle.

Serioulsy!! Z&W was a frikkin' joy to play! That final puzzle (with the walking on walls mechanic) as a MONSTER! Espeically because it could all go wrong with a few poorly-times moves. You can make it through the whole level, just to screw up on a sword fight. ARGH! That and DRAGON SCALES stage were the most challenging for me.
I'm proud to say, however, that I made it through the entire game without using gamefaqs or a single tip oracle... expcept for the final boss battle! It was for the stupidest, most obvious thing too! JUST GRAB HIS HAT AND YANK IT OFF DUMMY! Ugh. Great game!

John Rios, please don't post spoilers. I haven't done the last puzzle yet, dammit.

Hey,
Where did you find out about this deal concerning 15 bucks for Zack when buying Brawl? Is that a pre-order? A deal like that is what I really need to force me to run out and buy Brawl.

Sorry for the spoiler, peeps. But, seriously, you "fanboys" should be ashamed for not beating it yet. The game came out MONTHS ago. What's next? Getting mad at me for posting the ending to The 6th Sense?

This game is a really fun little 3rd person puzzler. Was only $30 and free shipping on circuitcity.com last I saw.

I rented Zack & Wiki and I will be buying it. That level on the Nintendo Europe site wasn't hard at all.

Puzzles definitely take a lot of thinking. In the full game, this one did take a while to figure out, but definitely nothing compared to some other puzzles. It's one of those things that you start to figure out where their mind is at and you think like the developers, which makes the game easier (but not easy, by any means).
Except a level will be thrown at you that is a real curveball and will take a long, long time to figure out ;p

I just finished up this game a couple of days and what a great game! Definitely worth the $30 price tag.

I'll take that burdening copy off your hands ... my wife won't stop nagging me to buy it, but sadly, money is a bit tight atm.

I wasn't sure about this one at first, but I never regretted it after I purchased it. It was a great game for me and my wife to play together. I almost wish that there were more difficult levels than there were (the first 3/4 of the game was a breeze, but that last 1/4 was a killer). I'd definitely buy a sequel if Capcom made one.

I've been meaning to at least rent this game for a while, but I have so many others at the moment. I will say this, though - whenever people ask if this is a game for kids, someone will always say "Not at all, the puzzles are way too hard and take some real critical thinking."
I think that's BS. That's exactly the kind of game parents should be encouraging their kids to play. I encourage everyone with children old enough to play Zack and Wiki to buy it for them, and encourage them to work as hard as they can to figure out the puzzles, and help them if they can't do it themselves.

I really hope Capcom sell enough copies to make Z&W 2?

After playing this game for a while with my lovely wife, she said "this is why we can never do The Amazing Race together".

LOL Dolph - I know that feeling.
This game also has been sitting on my to-do pile. Along with finishing Metroid Prime 3 and Super Paper Mario, as well as collecting the rest of the stars to get somewhere in Galaxy. And I'm sure all of those will go untouched when I buy Brawl next week, too.
ah sigh. This is a good game, although I was frustrated by the "weirdness" of it, when everyone said "It's Monkey Island for the Wii" - I was sold.
I didn't realize there was so much weird influence on it, and not weird in a way I like. I'll probably still play it again, but I'm in no rush.

GAH! Now I definitely want to buy this game! Great, so now I have to go out and buy NMH, Z&W, Brawl and Okami! Too many games in too little time! + some PSP games...
