Zack and Wiki Flash demo available
We know that Zack and Wiki is exceedingly old now. Having been released in the fall of 2007, it's practically an e-octogenarian at this point. But we also know that, for whatever reason, some of you still haven't sampled the delights of the whimsical puzzle adventure. Well, as so rarely happens in life, you are now being given a second chance.
A Flash demo for the game is available right here. Just click on "Gameplay" when the site loads up, you'll see the demo on the right. Keep in mind that the actual game has a bit more to offer (Wiimote action, Zack actually moves, etc.) but this brain-teaser should give you a good idea of what you've been missing.

If you own a wii, and you don't own this game, then you are a very bad person.
SID SPACE @ Mar 5th 2008 10:16AM
Just finished this game last week and I loved it. A few of the puzzles were actually pretty clever and it is funny at times.
Those last couple levels, though ... they almost made me snap my remote in half. Why is it that I can twirl a chain just fine, but when I go to throw it nothing happens? The final stage alone took me close to 40 minutes just because that one damn shoddy motion control.

I'm stuck on the stupid dragon. I got the hammer all the way up, but I can't figure out how to get it to fall.
SID SPACE @ Mar 5th 2008 10:20AM
OK. Then here's a couple hints: (space added for spoilers)
You can climb the hammer.
The bell pisses the dragon off.
Dopple Boppler @ Mar 5th 2008 10:21AM
Ha, I'm stuck on the dragon too. Haven't played in a couple weeks but I was planning on trying to finish it up this Saturday to pass the time away before Smash Bros.
It's a great game though, and they chose a good level to demo; this was one of the ones where I said "Oh, DUH" to myself after I took a step back to look at it for a minute.

Spaces for spoilers, and all that:
I tried that, All i get is fireballed in the face. I figured you have to get the dragon mad and fireball you, hitting the hammer and knocking it over, but I always got fried instead.
END Spoilers
Slaziman @ Mar 5th 2008 10:32AM
You gotta go down the ladder before he fireballs you
vidGuy @ Mar 5th 2008 12:45PM
"twirl a chain just fine, but when I go to throw it nothing happens"
You twirl the chain then just point the remote at the sensor bar. No button presses, no other motion. It took me about five minutes to figure that one out though.
Neebs @ Mar 5th 2008 10:23AM
Well, that took me all of 7 minutes.
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Mar 5th 2008 10:31AM
Its not supposed to be long. In fact, thats one of the shorter levels.
WiNG @ Mar 5th 2008 10:48AM
I got stuck on that damn Dragon, I had it shooting fireballs at me in an attempt to have it hit ANYTHING in the damn level.
I paid for the damn hint ticket, and the hint was
"THE DRAGON HOLDS THE TREASURE"
No shit! That is why I'm trying to break its skull open!
Plokosh @ Mar 5th 2008 10:53AM
[+] 1 for your sarcastic remark making me chuckle.
Off you go ;3

Is that a cat faced smiley?
M3ga Hax0r @ Mar 5th 2008 11:04AM
Kinda short. But fun nonetheless.
D_Average @ Mar 5th 2008 11:14AM
Buy it!! Buy it!! Buy it!! We need a sequel!
ALH @ Mar 5th 2008 11:40AM
that was pretty sweet. perhaps when all of my deadlines are over i'll give it a whirl.
Wilson @ Mar 5th 2008 11:45AM
This game is just awesome, I fell in love just by playing the demo! C'mon people! This is kinda like Monkey Island! If the internets made Phoenix Wright a popular game, it can be done with Zack and Wiki!
careyticoalu @ Mar 5th 2008 12:44PM
Wow can they make it even more absurd , how am i suppose to know that light is clickable.
Took me 15 mins just to finish that demo.
vidGuy @ Mar 5th 2008 12:51PM
That's the cool part of this game, it doesn't hold your hand through it. You are supposed to figure it out on your own. You can buy hints but they are often cryptic and not very useful. Sometimes you'll get stuck on a level and have to start investigating everything to figure it out.
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Mar 5th 2008 2:32PM
This game is old school. I died on the 1st level, and that was it. No "be careful over there" or, "watch you step" and then the character moves on its own. Nope, I walked forward and plummeted to my death.
Best 1st level since SNES.
vidGuy @ Mar 5th 2008 12:49PM
Fantastic game. It took me about 20 hours to beat. The demo is one of the easier and shorter levels, so don't get discouraged. The final levels took me almost an hour to beat each!
Sometimes the motion control can be a little aggravating when you can't seem to do what it wants, and you've got to make sure to have some of the replay tickets for the longer levels so that you don't have to start over at the beginning if you screw up. But overall Z&W is a great game and a very good purchase, especially since you can find it for as little as $15 in some sales. Easily one of the best 3rd party Wii games out.
careyticoalu @ Mar 5th 2008 1:32PM
make sense.
I think i'll buy this, good thing they did this demo.
heard someone told me of this being $15? where???
vidGuy @ Mar 5th 2008 1:45PM
There's been lots of sales, not specifically on this game but there are ways to get it cheap. For example, this coming week's deal at Toys R Us:
Buy Smash Brothers Brawl get 50% off these selected games... Zack and Wiki
ThornedVenom (Harley Quinn Defense Force) @ Mar 5th 2008 1:00PM
Kind of short like demo, but I like puzzles. =)
asher @ Mar 5th 2008 5:16PM
This game isn't clever, just annoying. I bought it, I hated it, I lent it to friends, they agreed. Once you get past the first 3 or 4 levels it's just aggravating. Whats with you people and your obsession with this game?
vidGuy @ Mar 5th 2008 5:27PM
Sounds like someone needs a couple more hints, or maybe a few more brain cells...
waynski1457 @ Mar 5th 2008 6:03PM
ill say it. i bought this game and i didnt buy galaxy (i had about 30 stars in roughly 35hrs...). now am i a good gamer? and i have no more heroes too.
