I'll most likely be getting it. It has just enough in it for me to play for a good amount and I've always loved the Gran Turismo games.

i agree the price is kinda steep but i imagine creating the best racing simulation ever on the most advanced current gen system isnt exactly inexpensive to produce.

ill be getting the game because GT is that damn good. then i'll sell it to some clueless sucker shortly before the real GT5 comes ;)

hey if millions will spend $35 on crap like Mario & Sonic at the Olympics, i wont feel as bad spending $5 more on a game that's actually good.

You make a good point about the Mario and Sonic. People are paying for Wii tech demos.

Bravo Curmeo.

This is not the 1st time that God has done this. God is a perfectionist, and I doubt that he is the only one to change his mind about what or what not to include in a game. I will be patient and wait for the perfect game than have him release a game that is not perfect.

The GT series is the pinicle of ALL racing sims, no other racing sim comes CLOSE to what the GT series has done. And considering the continuing decline of the once mighty US dollar...$40 for this game is chickenfeed.

I don't think $40 is too much for this. If you're a Die hard fan of the series, enjoy. I never "got it" with the GT series (im sure im the minority)

Same thing could be said about GTA4 episodic 360 content. Most people wont care, but for the some that do, its worth it for them.

"Gears of War 2 is going to have a lot of the same characters, weapons, environments, etc. as Gears of War 1.

Does that make Gears of War 1 a demo? NO."

You can't be serious. There are a hundred times more differences between GoW1 and GoW2 then are between GT5 Prologue and GT5. What differences are there between GT5 Prologue and GT5? More cars and more tracks is all I can think of.

GT4 had over 700 cars in it. Assuming that GT5 has only the same number of cars in as GT4, then GT5 will have just over 10 times as much content (and that's only with respect to cars)GT5 Prologue.

What's going to the difference between Gears of War 1 and 2? More content? How are more cars and tracks NOT more content?

It's a decent car list for a demo, and I hope it's a great game. Certainly graphics wise it looks amazing, but Forza has raised the bar on handling and damage modeling. I think it's going to be a bit distracting when things like using other cars and rails in turns is still viable in a game with this graphical fidelity.

Still awesome to see my car made that cut. (2007 Impreza STI) For that alone I'm going to probably pick it up.

It seems like SCEA has not learned their lesson yet. They are still pulling the same tricks they pulled at the advent of the PS3 release. Sony assumes because they are Sony everyone will assume its a quality product. They believe gamers will think everything that comes out their asses doesn't smell and their past customers will buy anything Sony exclusive because they have in the past. No questions asked, no room for criticism, and dangerously no room for failure. No business on earth should assume this, but you see it again and again from Sony and it could spell disaster if their "quality products" don't live up to the lofty promises from Sony. If you look at the marketing from Nintendo and Microsoft, you will see while they pump up their games there is no absolutes of quality in their marketing for their top titles. But with Sony they market their games like they are groundbreaking ventures in technology, which must leave their developers stressing like little trembling bunnies. This Gran Turismo Prologue Demo is just that, another exercise in potential business mistakes due to corporate hubris. Can yo imagine if Microsoft charged $40.00 for a demo of Forza Motorsport, or if Nintendo charged $40.00 for a demo of Mario Kart the internets would light on fire like the night sky during the Fourth of July, but Sony gets a free pass because its Gran Turismo? Since when does Sony deserve that we swim in their sea of arrogance?

Well, MS does charge way too much for hard drive and WiFi upgrades and Nintendo is blatantly ripping people off with their VC titles. And you do realize you're post was number 100+, right? And that this has happened each time news about Prologue is posted, right? So how is Sony getting a free pass here?

I do agree with the crux of your statement, but you really went off on a needlessly huge tirade.

LOL I think somebody needs to read the article about VC games being much cheaper than 2nd hand old game. But I suppose its smart to bash Nintendo for overcharging even though its the cheapest, legal way to acquire these games.

Sorry for catching you out :(

@Vidikron

Nintendo charges for VC titles but it is not the staple of their business and its up to the consumer if they want to pay for the convenience of getting a retro title delivered directly to their Wii and TV at home. VC titles are luxury items for Wii owners and not necessary to the Wii's concurrent success. You are not paying a ridiculous amount of money for Zelda, or Mario demos.

In defense of Microsoft, they were the first to market and they felt in order to keep the price of next gen gaming down for most gamers they made the Hard Drive optional for their entry level models. The entry level models were meant to be played by non "core" who could take a little dip into next gen gaming and then decide if their gaming needs would grow into the usage of a hard drive. As for the wireless connector being optional, I admit is a bit overpriced, but I refuse to playing online games using a wireless router due to the chance of dropping out in the middle of a match, and its happened to me before plenty of times and I've used everything from Belkin to Linksys. So again another luxury convenience peripheral is an option.

"Stupidest people"

Yea that will win the hearts of minds of readers in favor of your argument. The fact that Sony and Polyphonic acknowledged themselves that this is a demo really is what is ticking off gamers. Why couldn't wait they just finish the game before releasing it? Do they assume that us gamers are an impatient money wasting bunch? Imagine for once that a top title on Nintendo or Microsoft was released as a demo, Kotaku and other pro Sony sites would be all over them for this.

I thought this was a joke post, but then I checked your post history. Yikes!

As for your argument, are you saying that there isn't any else to play right now so you're going to buy part of GT5 now and then re-buy it when it's finished? Oh, yeah I forgot your post history, you probably will.

Then don't call it a demo, and then when the "completed" version comes out call it "redux" or some shit and make it a platinum seller or something. By them calling it a demo it was a horrible marketing mistake and not good business sense.

Game will probably be good, but I'm willing to wait until the full version comes out. There are plenty of good games for me to tide me over, and I'll get the full version day one. Just can't justify paying for a half game then paying for the the full version within the next 6 months after (um.....hopefully w/in 6 mths). Till then, day one Smash Bros and MGS4 should be enough for most of us. And I still have to finish Mass Effect and Pixel Junk Monsters (both amazing in very different ways, btw, so if you don't have em and can get em, do so, won't be disappointed)
