Though it doesn't "officially" launch until tomorrow, the fine folks at GarageGames let us know that you can sign-up for their InstantAction "platform" immediately – great for those of you eager to secure your precious gaming nom de guerre – and then sign-in to check out the service in beta.
If you're not familiar with InstantAction, you can check out our preview of the service from last year, or settle for the following description: 3D "console quality" games in a web browser (note: PC only for now, though Mac and Linux compatibility is under works). Hit up InstantAction.com and click the giant red "Sign Up" button to get going. We just made an account for ourselves; we'll have a tour of the service up shortly, as well as a giveaway for you starting tomorrow. If you sign up, share your Username with us.

I got my invite to this a few weeks ago... and after playing Think Tanks for about 5 minutes, I came to the decision that as this service stands now, it's a pretty big waste of time.

Oh great, same old shitty games on IA as well? So GG pretty much gave up on updating their shitty engines (except for TGB) and is now going for the kill... which is going to be another lame attempt at doing something which isn't needed.
Congrats.

^^^ That was genius. ^^^
I kept wondering when someone would offer such a cogent take on the best to thing to happen for games on the web since Flash.

Can you send an email to support@instantaction.com describing the problem? The site is still in beta and if it's a kink we need to get worked out, it would be great to know what the problem is.

I'm masternave, oddly enough. The only reason I signed up is for tribes. :D
Quake Zero,
Tribes (whatever they call it.)
Battlefield Heroes
Who will win?

"This add on is not compatible in Firefox" I should have never updated firefox. Now half my add-ons don't work and now I can't use this. Oh...and reverting back to an older version, did nothing for me.

For web based gaming, this is the best I have ever seen.

I have some thoughts on how the plug-in and content load experience can be improved. They can definitely make it easier and faster. And the messaging tools are kind of hard to use.
But I have to admit: from a future of gaming perspective, this is absolutely unbelievable. If you told me you could do what these guys are doing in Marble Blast on a browser and plug-in, I would never have believed it. And the games are incredibly fun.
Now that this has been shown as possible, a whole new world is opening up for serious game developers. Look, given how evil the publishers and console companies have become, there's no question that any producer who values freedom and creativity will flock to the Web.
I have seen the future, and it is InstantAction.

I want more tokens! I like playing at instant action, I am going to win the beta contest there, but I still want more tokens. I love casual hardcore gaming and am a fan of any replica of Tribes 2 gaming. I have been following GG for a long long time and waiting for Legions to be finished and available to the public. Time to shoot and fly..... but for now... contests as we wait!
The Future is here, flash games may still stick around, but what is at IA right now is only a hint of what is to come! Racing, flying, shooting all in 3D all at a URL instead of deep downloading and installing and waiting and putting in a CD key and searching for friends... it is all there in the drop of a link!
