Well now, this is a trend we'd like to see continue: Just a week after it's last update (a batch of No Doubt tunes) Guitar Hero IIIis getting another song pack. This time, it's the "Modern Metal Track Pack," featuring master tracks of Deftones' "Hole in the Earth," Avenged Sevenfold's "Almost Easy" and Thrice's "The Arsonist." As you've come to expect, the three songs will cost you 500 points ($6.25).
If you don't find yourself in a metal mood, you'll be excited to hear that the next pack is already in the works. It's three from Dropkick Murphys, master tracks of "Famous for Nothing," "(F)lannigan's Ball" and "Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ya." It's due in mid-March in time for St. Patrick's Day. And the best part? Totally free. We didn't think it was possible for us to be more excited about drinking ourselves into oblivion on a Monday, but we guess wonders never cease.
Hopefully Rock Band gets some metal on there soon. Although the fundamental problem with that is, much like Sabotage, the entire singing part would be the "we don't know what the notes are" type thing, due to screaming etc.
Drop Kick Murphys! Its too bad that they only used tracks from their latest album, because there's a lot of really fun songs that would work well for both rockband and guitar hero from blackout and warrior's code amongst others. I hope they get more!
Deftones: Alternative METAL Avenged Sevenfold: METAL-core (Shittiest of the metalcore bands in the beginning) Thrice: Melodic Hardcore (But hey, close to metal... rarrr!)
Yay for free songs, not so much for the overpriced songs that are more expensive than any of their competition ($5.50/3 pack in Rock band, $1.50/song on KR:AI, $1/song on DDR.) Watch Harmonix put out the Nevermind album in March to compete (we just saw our first 6 pack this week)
uh-huh, avenged sevenfold and deftones TOTALLY strike me as being metal. i'll just go on and listen to this poser "nunslaughter" band in hopes of becoming as brutal as those hard hitting dudes mentioned in the article. -_-
as far as i'm concerned metal died when metallia cut their hair and grunge got big, and no i'm not referring to glam or hair metal i'm talkin real metal too.
This stuff today is either shitty toned down mainstream garbage like these ones coming to guitar hero, or screaming incoherent garbage that seems to be all the rage with the internet crowd nowadays.
Still waiting on those single songs, Activision. I'm not paying 6.25 for one song! Though, this update makes it easy, I don't want any of them. Activision proves once again it has no idea what it's doing.. You can cut and paste a game engine, but you can't cut and paste creativity and direction.
Just need some Pennywise and they'll have my pre-order (I'm UK, alas). Their new album is free (March 23rd) so fingers crossed they'll bring a few (of their older tracks) to Rock Band for nothin'... Oh, this is Guitar Hero. Hmm... I didn't know Guitar Hero was still going!
I don't want to make a huge deal out of this, but please, can you pay more attention to proofreading? As here, you mess up its/it's once an article. Please?
Dropkick Murphys are great, but they could have picked much better songs.... I'll just have to hope they put the good ones on Rock Band in the future somewhere :)
For the record, my favorite plastic rocking guitar games are GH1, GH2, Rock Band, and GH3
That will be changed if Come Sail Away is DLC on Rockband, however.
I'll go out and buy a 360 and Rock Band the minute it comes out.
Oh, and say what you want about Activision, atleast they care enough to give us Wii owners a version thats on time. The Mono issue wasn't a big deal, as the PS2 is still the king of plastic shredding and gave me something to do. (Can't play All of This or Cavemen Rejoice on anything else :D)
The only thing that baffles me is out of all Deftones songs, why did they chose Hole in the Earth instead of something way more well known. Like, Change in the House of Flies or Dai The Flu.
