The outline is nice, but it would had been nice if he had spent more time on the surface details.
Or maybe it just simply doesn't come out as well without the shininess a metal sword would provide.

Hmm, also the wooden replica looks a bit too balanced, whereas the unbalance (larger on the tip) was what made the blade beautifully unrealistic.
I know I'm nitpicking, and that I wouldn't have done a better job, but I can't help feeling that he was so close to reaching that level of awesomeness.
