Wii Warm Up: Getting your TV on

I want the TV channel...NOW!!! I haven't liked TV Guide since they went to the magazine style. I need something! Help me Nintendo!

As an analogue cable subscriber who pays next to $60 for 70 channels, and does not want to pay upside of $100 for digital, I still (gasp) rely on a TV guide. The TV guide is the only reason i'm so adamant about getting the sunday paper every week, this channel would save money, although not time, since my Wii's at an obscure end of the house

I've got FiOS, and their TV guide is actually really nice. Though I'll admit that for anyone with analog cable, the Wii TV-Guide channel seems pretty nice. I like how the sensor bar sends out the signals to your tv, that's pretty nifty.

A TV Guide-like channel would be great - probably used more than any other feature in our house.

For now we're using Opera to do something similar - our cable provider has an online TV guide that's fairly up to date that I can browse to, but it's not very convenient because of the steps you go through (power on - open Opera - browse to provider's site - select TV listings) as opposed to just clicking on a Wii TV guide channel.

Since I only have about two channels, I wouldn't get much use but it would be nice to get some use out of a channel...

I don't have cable and have never bothered to set up over the air signal signals, so no. I wouldn't.

Besides, it probably takes WAY to long to boot up to be worth it. It'd be much faster to just flip to the channel menu on your TV service.

This would be one I would use. I have only the analog channels and have to turn to the TV guide channel just to see whats on. With this I could know what to watch hours or even a day or so in advance. Also the fact that it turns the channel for you would make this the ideal alternative to the digital cable services guide which I had but down graded since I never watched any of the other channels. This would be the analog subscribers dream come true. I really would love to see this make it over to the states.

Maybe, but I'm not sure how the whole thing hooks up to start with. I'd like a little more detail before I could say for sure whether I'd use it or not. However, it would probably get more use than just about any other Channel on my Wii. The Internet channel comes the closest to being useful and that's more for streaming video than anything else.

Not really interested. That's what the tivo's for. Using the remote to control your tv watching seems neat in theory, but seeing as my tv's so old that it can't change directly to an input, but instead has to cycle through all the inputs (TV -> Video 1 -> Video 2 -> Video 3), just change from the Wii to the TV feed and back, it could get annoying fast when repeatedly flipping between the guide and the television feed. The text messaging feature would've been cool in the days before DVRs, but not so much now. The channel is good for those rocking OTA television without a tivo, but not really anyone else since we all have channel guides.

man, that would be so nice to have. every time i want to check a time for one of my shows i have to wake up my computer... start firefox... and get to tvguide.com. it takes longer to do than it sounds, and it's annoying. wantwantwant.

maybe not for channel surfing, but i love the sound of the social aspect of it!

Yup, sounds good. All I need now is a TV. :).... In my room cause main TV has Rogers PVR.

I don't have cable in my room, but downstairs & parents room does(i get 4 channels...all of them fuzzy)...if this could get me cable...I would be locked up in my room forever(except for the DVR recorded shows)
