We're a bit torn between whether the above image is horrifying or brilliant. On the one hand, someone clearly drew massive eyebrows on this poor animal, whose uncanny likeness to Animal Crossing's resident musician K. K. Slider is certainly no fault of his (or her?) own.
On the other hand, someone did look at this dog, and realize that with the slightest modification they could create a most excellent cosplay. In either case, consider us in awe. Now all he/she needs is an adorable guitar, and a puppy-sized stool. But we suppose the poor thing's been through enough already.

I dress my cats like Ulysses S. Grant and Robert E. Lee and we recreate the South's surrender at the Appomattox Court House every April 9th.

I dress my cat like Xena Warrior Princess and we do the "Teeezalalalalalah" cry together all the time. Yes, I failed at typing that with a straight face.

Perhaps, but it's still selfish of the owner, and a stupid thing to do to begin with.

Thanks for telling me I sound moronic. Sorry to have an opinion different than yours. Good day.

Having an opinion and "free speech" doesn't make you immune to ridicule when your opinion is counter to all logic and actual practice.
If you want to fight animal abuse, then try to do something about breeders who raise "guard dogs" through abuse, or poorly operated kennels, or dog fighting rings, or any number of other blatant abuses.
Claiming putting make-up on a puppy is abuse is absurd.

I don't think it's that bad, but I certainly wouldn't draw on my dog. I do doubt that the dog enjoyed it as much as the owner did as you said above... My gut reaction is negative towards the owner on this one.

Abuse would be beating the dog. Throwing it off of a cliff is murdering the poor pup.

Just because worse things are done, doesn't make minor things any less a crime. Just because Bush is a douche, doesn't make JT any less a douche. Any questions?

Eh, it's not like it hurt the dog in any way. I think it's pretty awesome, actually. Much simpler than this, too: http://www.theonion.com/content/node/25820

i don't want to sound like one of those "fake! looksshoppedicantellbytehpixelz" morons, but it is possible that there was no sharpie involved and you're getting your panties in a twist over nothing but a little humorous photoshopping.
of course i do realize that's almost unheard of on the internet.

You guys realize that dogs can't look at their own faces, and don't have an especially sophisticated understanding of mirrors, right?
I guess you could argue that it's mildly unethical, but you'd have to somehow explain what harm is actually being done. This dog does not know what it looks like.

I bet if that dog cared to look at his reflection he'd be happy of how pimp he looks.

While the guitar might be nice, cleaning up the puppy-sized stool gets old real quick.

I hear that if you visit this puppy on a Saturday night he'll ask you if you want to hea a song and play it for you. Go for K.K. Fusion or K.K. Cruisin'
He'll even give you the aircheck to play it on your radio at home!

At least (s)he didn't dye the entire fur pink or strap a strange ukulele to the dog. And it's not wearing a sweater. That said, it's cute enough as it is. Save the marker for something more important =)

If I saw that dog being walked down the street, I would hand a twenty dollar bill to his owner.

I'll have to throw my hat into the "Poor dog" in the same vein as poodles who get trimmed stupidly, or otherwise. I'm not sure this is something the dog would have really enjoyed, but for the one on one time he got with his owner.
It isn't going to hurt him though, and is ridiculously cute, though I'd probably find it a little creepy as time went on (Especially if that is permanent marker)
Actually, I think the only reason I feel sorry for the dog is that he is probably way more cute without those huge eyebrows.

Well, yes, castration is cruel. Not that it has anyhting to do with this.

Cosplay must die.
It's a blight on our hobby, and it does nothing to further the goal of changing people's negative perception of gamers.
I'm embarrassed whenever I see cosplayers. At no time in the good old days of gaming did we have weirdos who ran around dressing up as Space Invaders, Root Beer Tapper or Q*Bert. This whole "let's play dress-up" thing is a recent development, and I wish it would go back to its anime/manga roots and leave gaming alone.
Wearing a t-shirt or some part of a character's costume (a hat or pin or something) is probably OK, but going to the lengths of painting your whole body blue, running around with cardboard hair or elf ears, or drawing eyebrows on your dog..? It's just insane.
Cosplayers are one step above furries on the creepy scale.
