If you've been looking for an excuse to jump back into Halo 3 after your dalliances with Call of Duty 4, this may just be it: This weekend, you'll be getting double XP points if you win a game of Grifball, a game variation created by Burnie Burns of RvB fame. The game will be a social playlist from now until March 10 at noon. Also, Grifball is being treated like a tournament hopper with prizes available.
At noon on March 20 the next double XP playlist will be activated: Team SWAT, which takes away radar and shields and adds health. So, is this enough to get you back to playing Halo 3? Or did you never slack off to begin with?

Well, this is beneficial for the people who ranked up fast but don't get to play much. I'm a level 40, but I only have 245 exp, so I'm actually two ranks and 165 exp below my max rank.
It's pretty trivial, but it would be nice to be listed as a colonel and not a major, if for nothing than the e-penis point.

Hmm... sorry if this becomes a double post, first time it didn't go through.
The double exp is awesome because I just eclipsed total games played 200, with total exp 201. Not that it will last, but still awesome for the time being.

There is no way that I'm not playing COD4 to play with someone's balls. I mean really. Is this what you've become Halo? It's better to burn out than to fade away.

Why is double XP a good thing? Increasing XP without increasing rank just makes you look worse, as it gives you those stupid bars under your ensignia that most people see as "this guy played a lot of games but wasn't good enough to win many, so his grade went up but not his rank".
And generally, it holds true. Even when I was a lieutenant if I got matched up against a bunch of Grade 2 majors chances were that I was better than them, but they had just played a lot of games. The grade 0 guys are usually better than grade guys so why would you want your rank to look worse?

I think this is an example of how robust Halo 3's multiplayer actually is. All the different game variant combinations and the Forge make for endless possibilities; like Grifball.

Well I don't know if my other comment was posted because I don't see it.
Anyway Bungie for good sake remove friendly fire, also add some RvsB commentaries during the matches.
Halo community is full of fail and ghey. The Valentines tournament only remarked that.

Well here is the original:
If only Halo 3 weren't so full of f*gg*try(I blame Halo payers for that).
They first had to remove friendly fire and add some clever Griff commentaries during the matches before I return to Halo. I played Valentines tournament and it was a b*tch getting with someone that actually knows how to play in teamwork not to mention that it was incredibly unbalanced.

the double xp is not important.
what's important is they're finally putting custom variants/gametypes on the hopper so people will actually play these great custom made gametypes from a playlist. there's too many people out there, myself included, that don't have enough halo3 friends playing at any given time (or are too lazy) to download a new gametype from bungie, start a custom map, then invite people.
this game needs more of this.. or a real server browser which is never going to happen.

Everyone hated action sack because Bungie picked some of the lamest gametypes. But they were on to a good start with the community input. As long as the fans get to choose which games are put in the playlist, then they should just have a dedicated, rotating playlist that has gametypes like this.
Web 2.0 is so great because the mass of people can create enormous amounts of content; far more than individual companies can. Bungie should tap this philosophy.

Also, it shouldn't be hard to figure out which gametypes to remove when they get vetoed by 90% of the players. For example, why is VIP in anything?

Yep, CoD4 completely took away my attention from Halo, maybe I'll hop on for this.

As much as I love Halo (or CoD4, for that matter), I'm not monogamous enough to stick with just one game when there's so many other lovely fish in the sea.

I"m so happy team swat is gonna be double xp. I love that.

try the towel trick while you wait for your coffin you may be able to squeeze out a few more days of gameplay
step one: leave power cables and AV cables in xbox and wrap in at minimum one towel
step two: turn on xbox, you will see the 3 red lights then 2(i think its 2, 2 indicates overheating)
step three: leave the xbox on for about 10-15 minutes
step four: turn off xbox, remove towel and let cool for 10-15 minutes
step 5: hopefully the xbox should work for a while until the coffin arrives at least

I played Grifball the other day and it was actually pretty fun. I didn't think you could make a gametype like this, so I was pleasantly surprised. But as for the CoD4 thing, man, seriously, that game got so boring so quick... I honestly didn't see anything to back up it's hype...

Easo, I know, I played the game for one night and I was beating people apparently 50 or so levels higher than me without any problems. From what I've seen it's a really skill-less game. Just use the M16 all the way until you get the P90 and couple it with Juggernaut and you're set.

I'm thoroughly confused by what exactly Grifball is having missed that RvB episode and what sort of gametypes are available in Halo 3 and CoD4
