Microsoft's Steve Ballmer talks Blu-ray support

At Microsoft's Mix 08 Internet Conference in Las Vegas, company CEO Steve "Monkey Boy" Ballmer took a moment during his hour-long session to address Microsoft's official stance on Blu-ray, following the death of HD-DVD.

According to Ballmer, Microsoft plans to support Blu-ray in "ways that make sense." The company is already working on Windows device drivers, and with Sony in talks with Microsoft about the possibility of building a Blu-ray add-on for the 360, it's only a matter of time before Ballmer's dancing around and chanting "Blu-ray! Blu-ray! Blu-ray!"

Why would they talk to Sony? Sony in no way owns Blu Ray

You are so right! By right I mean more wrong than right.

The Blu-ray Disc Association is headed by the Blu-ray disc founders, which are Sony, Matsushita, Pioneer, Philips, Thomson, LG Electronics, Hitachi, Sharp, and Samsung - with Sony Corporation being the frontman. So yeah, they are a good one to talk to for licensing and such.

I could imagine that picture of Ballmer with him kicking HD-DVD in a pit, saying: "THIS IS BLURAY!!!"

I know for sure that ms is coming out with a xbox built in blu ray drive i think its bs because of all the xbox 360s out there already but it is for sure spoke to a friend on the inside of this mess i am so peed off because why should i pay for a new console now the games are going to be in blu ray but they still will be making hd games for the regular owners of the format i think that is so stuppid on ms part and there will be add on coming too after the console the console will hit this year before christmas i gaurantee it
