This Edge Magazine cover from November 2006 (via 3ndo) brings us great memories. It also reminds us that many of these characters have been MIA for quite some time (RIP, Manny Calavera). Check out the highlights for today:

I remember this magazine on display at a local bookstore in my city. I like how Guybrush Threepwood looks on that cover picture. Haha!

Yeah me too. I have this issue. Their covers are always cool. Almost like something you'd put on your wall, what other magazine has that?
I like EDGE, it's different and they have a deeper appreciation for games. I don't agree with them all the time, but then that's not necessary. I don't necessarily like it because of the reviews, but the other articles.

It reminds us that lucasarts hasn't made a good game since Jedi Knight 2.
It makes us cry.

I dunno, personally I was a fan of Jedi Academy, I thought that it was a reasonably well-done game. Jedi Outcast would have been very good had it not been for the abysmal level design.

Not that Lucas Arts did Jedi Knight 2... That was a Raven Software game.
The last good game which was developed by Lucas Arts themselves probably was Grim Fandango. Or Monkey Island 4, but you could argue if that was a really good game.

heh. I meant Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight.
Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast sucked.
Its not my fault, its their stupid naming system!!

Agreed. Rule of thumb...never outsource your franchises to raven.
Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy were pretty bad. It's too bad they had to ruin a great series.

Ahh...Grim Fandango. When will a game raise the bar above where you set it?

Edge is pretentious. Please stop being elitist, it's alienating.

Edge is a good magazine with intelligent articles.
Not treating gaming like a hobby for 12 year old boys doesn't make them pretentious, it makes them grown up.
Plus, they have the best graphic designers and covers of any mag ever.

Convulated language is not grown up, it's off putting. They have awesome covers. But their articles aren't the holy grail many readers hold them up to be. They review harshly - which is good - but there is a real smugness about the way they go about things. You can be adult without being "literary" obscure.
I would even argue their "adult" position is childish. Elitism is childish, and selfish.

Good enough to spot that Sam doesn't have a star on his hat and that LeChuck was never a skeleton in the games?
And that Max is either simultaneously in front and behind Sam at the same time, or is just disproportionately huge?
It's probably me just being picky, but they are pretty weird mistakes to make.

To be fair, it is hard to make a Grim Fandango sequel with Manny. I'll leave out the ending spoiler for those poor saps that haven't played it.
