Today's most innovative Rick Roll: Astley's hit on Audiosurf
At long last, someone has found a way to update the "RIck Roll" phenomenon in such a way that we could post about it on Joystiq. Of course, we could have tricked you with a headline like "Check out the best Audiosurf play evar!," but that'd just be cruel. Instead, we'll give you the tools for successfully Ricksurfing your friends and enemies. Proceed with caution after the break.

Aw, I was looking forward to a complete lack of grey blocks, but this is pretty okay too.
On another note, Rick Astley doesn't -need- to be updated. :)
HalaMadrid!!! @ Mar 7th 2008 1:30AM
sing along everybody
We're no strangers to love
You know the rules and so do I
A full commitment's what I'm thinking of
You wouldn't get this from any other guy
I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling
Gotta make you understand
* Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you
We've know each other for so long
Your heart's been aching
But you're too shy to say it
Inside we both know what's been going on
We know the game and we're gonna play it
And if you ask me how I'm feeling
Don't tell me you're too blind to see
(* repeat)
give you up. give you up
give you up, give you up
never gonna give
never gonna give, give you up
never gonna give
never gonna give, five you up
I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling
Gotta make you understand
(* repeat 3 times)

Ugh, I rick rolled myself, I watched the whole damn thing thinking it was going to go all crazy.
ThornedVenom (Harley Quinn Defense Force) @ Mar 7th 2008 1:38AM
Am I the only one on Joystiq who actually likes the song?
HalaMadrid!!! @ Mar 7th 2008 1:49AM

Brian Fantana @ Mar 7th 2008 2:49AM
Nah dude. It's a good song. The 80's were great.
colin @ Mar 7th 2008 3:10AM
don't really like it, but do agree that the 80's were awesome. as for youtube music vids, this scene from a certain 1980's film takes the cake. (yeah i thought it was a lie too)
it is awesome in so many ways

you are not alone my friend. i love the song, its just hilarious to watch him "dance" in the video with his same old 2 step. 80's music was great.
xFenixKnightx @ Mar 7th 2008 11:44AM

CountChocula @ Mar 7th 2008 1:45AM
It's actually a good song?! Weird.

There once was a man named Bertold
Who drank beer when the weather grew cold
As he reached for his cup...
"NEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP!!!"
Oh, snap! You just got limerickrolled!
Mike Jenkins @ Mar 7th 2008 1:46AM
Oddly enough, I was the first person who ever Rickrolled myself. I didn't know what it was, so when I stumbled upon a website that un-tinyURLed sites to prevent being Rickrolled, I decided to click the link to see what it was. It wasn't just the video, it was one that shrunk my window and made it bounce all over so you couldn't close it. What a pain in the ass!
The BPM Scrolls IV: Knights of the Nine @ Mar 7th 2008 2:05AM
Hey.... I didn't like any of that.
Altairio @ Mar 7th 2008 2:32PM
Hey Rick, it's your cousin! Your cousin, Marvin Astley! You know that new sound you were lookin for? Well listen to this!
leland @ Mar 7th 2008 2:22AM
This game looks 1) boring and 2) like it has nothing to do with the rhythm of the song.
whymog @ Mar 7th 2008 3:46AM
The video doesn't do it justice. The game matches up to almost any song marvelously - way better than Phase does, in many respects.
alex @ Mar 7th 2008 2:42AM
Rick Astley is never going to:
a) Give you up
b) Let you down
c) Run around
d) Desert you
e) All of the above
ThornedVenom (Harley Quinn Defense Force) @ Mar 7th 2008 2:45AM
How to Rick Roll:
1) Give you up
2) Let you down
3) Run around
4) Desert you
5) ???
6) Profit!
mezzanine @ Mar 7th 2008 2:50AM
Can you actually be Rick Roll'd if you really like the song? Brings me memories of childhood.

Osu looks cool but it just lacks the outrageous situations brought with cheerleading blues brothers.

Tsk Tsk, is that the beta version? In retail version the blocks become translucent when you clear them.
AwesomeTown @ Mar 7th 2008 7:31AM
Damn, I think I have to buy this so I can have an excuse to listen to Rick over and over again.
Oh, who am I kidding?
/puts Never Gonna Give You Up to repeat on ipod

Little white guy, big black voice.
Ian Murray @ Mar 7th 2008 9:50AM
Audiosurf sounded great to me - on paper.
When I watch it actually being played, it looks like a poor-man's Rock Band/DDR smashup.
Atilac @ Mar 7th 2008 10:27AM
Except it can play any music you currently own. Your not forced to buy songs at inflated prices, or hold a small yappy dog. This guy in the video sucks, he hit greys and he is not playing on ironmode.
Ian Murray @ Mar 7th 2008 9:14PM
I understand all of that.
It's just my opinion that it's not a game I'd purchase that's all.
I get plenty of enjoyment out of my music regularly, so I'm not really seeing the need for this f-zero/rock band/ddr/lightcycle amalgam.
Ghaleon @ Mar 7th 2008 11:04AM
I don't get what the song has to do with the game?
sicsided @ Mar 7th 2008 12:39PM
in the game, you can upload any song, and it will change the track and add notes according to certain elements of the game.
