At long last, someone has found a way to update the "RIck Roll" phenomenon in such a way that we could post about it on Joystiq. Of course, we could have tricked you with a headline like "Check out the best Audiosurf play evar!," but that'd just be cruel. don't really like it, but do agree that the 80's were awesome. as for youtube music vids, this scene from a certain 1980's film takes the cake. (yeah i thought it was a lie too)

Oddly enough, I was the first person who ever Rickrolled myself. I didn't know what it was, so when I stumbled upon a website that un-tinyURLed sites to prevent being Rickrolled, I decided to click the link to see what it was. It wasn't just the video, it was one that shrunk my window and made it bounce all over so you couldn't close it. What a pain in the ass!

Audiosurf sounded great to me - on paper.

When I watch it actually being played, it looks like a poor-man's Rock Band/DDR smashup.

Except it can play any music you currently own. Your not forced to buy songs at inflated prices, or hold a small yappy dog. This guy in the video sucks, he hit greys and he is not playing on ironmode.

I understand all of that.

It's just my opinion that it's not a game I'd purchase that's all.

I get plenty of enjoyment out of my music regularly, so I'm not really seeing the need for this f-zero/rock band/ddr/lightcycle amalgam.
