The new video version of XBLA in Brief is back this week, taking a look at Rocketmen: Axis of Evil. Despite having one of the more unique names on Xbox Live Arcade, Rocketmen turns out to be yet another omni-directional shooter. You know, move with the left stick, shoot with the right stick. Rinse, repeat. It does throw a few extra bits into the mix, namely an RPG upgrade system that lets you level up your character and weapons. It's not bad, but it's definitely not great. Also, it's worth noting that the "ending" of trial version could use some work. Worth 800 points? Based solely on the trial version, we say no. Check out the video for our full impressions.

I am so disappointed in he last couple months of XBLA, I thought N+ was great, but the rest have been horrid, the XNA games were ten times better then what been released on XBLA lately, I can't belive Rocketman made to Microsoft's office.
Great job on the video. I don't even think I'll waste my bandwidth on the trial version, much less my money on the full game. Great ending too. I knew it was coming, but it still made me laugh.
While Triggerheart Exelica is a short game, I really enjoy it and have been fighting the urge to buy it while I stock up my points praying for a Hard-Fi track pack for Rock Band and waiting for Ikaruga.
Not to mention, it's full of bugs. Playing 3 player local, we got trapped in a room that would not let us progress. We were also able to crash the program twice. That was in about a 15 min. period. Did this thing get any bug testing? And, I have to say it: just because you get to choose your skin, hair, clothing colors, etc. doesn't make ANY of them appealing. Their all hideous.
I was kinda expecting this one to be cool, with all the customizing and tongue in cheek humor that it obviously has. Yet, the result was sorely lacking in the FUN department, and some stuff was just plain lazy: seriously guys, that is the BEST running animation you could come up with? But in any case, I did the first level on the demo and that's all. Not getting this one, it's a pass.
