Mega64 goes Jonze for Harmonix game regulars: Freezepop
If you've ever played a rhythm game by those musical connoisseurs at Harmonix, you're probably familiar with the idiosyncratic synth-pop stylings of Boston's own Freezepop. From 2001's Frequency ("Science Genius Girl") to last year's iPod smash-hit Phase ("Pop Music is Not a Crime"), their dessert-inspired name has become synonymous with the music/rhythm genre.
We can only imagine that the boys at Mega64 leapt at the opportunity to direct the latest music video for the inimitable Bostonian trio: "Brainpower", one of the unlockable songs featured on Rock Band. As far as we know, this is Mega's first music video (apart from their bastardization of a well-traveled internet classic). What do you think of this epic gaming culture collision? Do Rocco, Derrick and Shawn have the chops to "get their Jonze on"?

It doesn't get much better than double keytar action.
It just doesn't.

MEGA 64 are funny. They're funny because everybody says they are. So they must be.
Youtube Hero.

I liked it much better when Jhonen Vasquez did a music video.
HighFiveJesus @ Mar 8th 2008 2:54PM

With his money, he doesn't need to be. He makes bank just managing his merchandising.

Jhonen Vasquez is the shit.
jefffff @ Mar 8th 2008 1:34PM
Those songs are no fun in rock band
Anti-Tard Music @ Mar 8th 2008 2:22PM
I bet you're one of those people who are screaming for more/any Guns and Roses in Rock Band, aren't you?
why not the LS2/LS7? @ Mar 8th 2008 2:47PM
I agree. I'm a big Freezepop fan, and they're fun songs in general, but they're not really fun to play.
Get Ready to Rokk is the best, and it's just okay. It was more fun watch the Duke play it in concert on a keytar than trying to play it on a plastic guitar.
Where's the keytar input device for Rockband?
THE WICKER MAN (BWF) (GT: Dalek Prime) @ Mar 8th 2008 3:24PM

YAY Mega64! I thought it was great!
why not the LS2/LS7? @ Mar 8th 2008 2:20PM
FRE^2ZEPOP 4EVER.
When was this shot? In this video the Duke still doesn't have his AX-7 fixed after the "blood on the keytar" incident in San Francisco.
Fernog @ Mar 8th 2008 2:27PM
Yay 4 teh Freezerpop!
Kyattsuai @ Mar 8th 2008 2:40PM
If that robot was worth anything, it'd have finished the job before the poison gas got there. Good video, however.
Booxatron @ Mar 8th 2008 8:27PM
I love the avatar, complete with "U" hat. Very nice.
Tom @ Mar 8th 2008 2:59PM
I can't decide whether the song is the worst part of this video, or if the video itself is the worst part of this video.
deft @ Mar 8th 2008 3:04PM
I like how the did the video like if it were from the 80's
THE WICKER MAN (BWF) (GT: Dalek Prime) @ Mar 8th 2008 3:25PM
she is hot in less talk more rokk.
Kyera @ Mar 8th 2008 3:29PM
Wow, I can't stop laughing.
Piano-Wizard-Queen @ Mar 10th 2008 9:28AM
That WAS funny, Kyera.
I especially liked the buttons on the remote -- "poison gas" was my fav.
Instead of RB, I wonder how they'd do with the new Guitar Wizard(http://youtube.com/watch?v=VPXL1E4UxZY)!
ThornedVenom (Harley Quinn Defense Force) @ Mar 8th 2008 5:47PM
Did she yell out "Grey Power"?

I did love their song "get ready to rokk" from Guitar Hero 1 for ps2.
Still, the only iteration of the game i have so far...XP
Uridium @ Mar 8th 2008 7:22PM
Saw these guys yesterday (The Middle East downstairs, Boston.) Great show, they're a lot of fun, and it's been cool to watch them grow and mature over time. If they added Frontload to Rock Band I'd need to buy a 360 just for that.
kevinski @ Mar 9th 2008 1:07AM
God, Super-Sprode is freaking awesome in Amplitude.
xx Beta Max xx @ Mar 10th 2008 8:51AM
Great Job Tim and Eric!
rDr4g0n @ Mar 10th 2008 8:58AM
Ahhh freezepop. I wish i was young so i could gush over them.
Fitz @ Mar 10th 2008 4:13PM
I can't believe there's a Frequency mention but you skipped the fact that they appeared in the (much better) Amplitude as well. (didn't they? I'm almost certain they did). Harmonix = rocking out for much longer than most people think.
