1UP recently added some fuel cells to the fire of the relatively aged rumor that the result of Bioware and LucasArts' recent collaboration is an MMORPG which takes place in the long-winded universe of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. While one could make a case for and against this claim, a script for the game, which apparently landed in the laps of 1UP's digital ink slingers, could prove conclusive evidence for the online epic -- if it's completely legit, that is.
The script details the online game as a "role-playing game set in the historical past of the Star Wars universe," where "Jedi and Sith battle across the galaxy." While those two phrases could apply to many chapters of the Star Wars mythos, the tipster who submitted the script was convinced it carried Bioware's trademark verbosity. We're confused -- how will we be expected to spend hours mindlessly grinding and spawn camping with all of that dialog getting in our way? Hopefully they'll fix that in beta.

The comment about to fix the dialog in the beta is the most stupid comment ai have ever readen on the net rumours about this MMORPG... To grind... Is a joke, no?
Trademark of Bioware, and a fres new air to the genre is the dialog and storytelling.

And shutting down the game so they can totally remake it in WoW's image.

I don't get why people want this. KOTOR 3 would rock, but I wouldn't want a KOTOR MMO. They'd be much better off keeping this as story-based single player, especially since every MMO not named World of Warcraft is destined to be at best only marginally successful since most people don't want to play more than one MMO, one time suck is bad enough.

In general I'm fairly uninterested in MMOs, but this is one in particular, that if developed by Bioware, I'd definitely give a chance.
I too would love a KoTOR 3, but if they make a worthwhile MMO based off the franchise, isn't that a good thing?

Technically, that is incorrect. The Oxford English Dictionary lists both "dialog" and "dialogue" as acceptable spellings.

A KOTOR MMO would be amazing.
Having the two warring factions will provide a lot of gameplay-- the constant war, all the missions that could come out of it, different gameplay opportunities. Crap, I have no idea if I'd rather play Sith or Jedi. Probably both. Shit.

It is an important thing to note that one the Bioware page, one the drop down menu for games, the LucasArts/Bioware Interactive Product" and the "Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO)" are two different tabs.
That leads me to believe that, unfortunately, the two are not the same thing.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
KOTOR 3 single player RPG > KOTOR MMO
I can absolutely 100% guarantee that I would buy KOTOR 3. Where on the otherhand I'm extremely sceptical about buying (and continuing to pay for) a KOTOR MMO.

It's an excellent idea, so long as they keep it "canon" and not allow for the control of major in-universe characters. Have the players take control of random, common Jedi and common Sith
Otherwise everyone would just run around as the coolest Sith lords, which would cheapen it infinitely
Wait, its BioWare, what do i have to worry about?

That they'll continue down their current path of "how do we make people who hate RPGs like RPGs?"
Not saying Bioware sucks, just saying after Jade Empire and Mass Effect, maybe Bioware doesn't want to make RPGs...

Sorry for double post, but after thinking about it a little bit, I might be a little more open to an MMORPG. The idea of joining either the Sith or the Jedi and battling it out "Horde vs Alliance" style could be pretty awesome. Maybe some sort of constant galaxy map, with sith and jedi controlled planets? I'd still prefer the single player experience, but maybe an MMORPG wouldn't be so bad.

It works for FFXI. That game's players tend to play it for the story, and it's still going strong seven years after it was released. My guess is that this would be closer to FFXI than WoW.
And, yes, I would play this one (I hated Galaxies... this has to be better).

well it should be well known that SWG is pretty pathetic, and LucasArt's working on a new MMO would be quite logical. It's also well known that bioware and lucasart's are working on a project together. For me it's hard to say it's going to happen based on these two things. First off Bioware has never worked on an MMO, and hasn't worked on a multiplayer game since 2002. Second all three companies involved seem interested in developing new/original IP. EA has made it apparent that they are going to start focusing on new IP in their shareholder information. Bioware has only created 2 titles not using their own IP which goes to show they share the same idea as EA. Lastly LucasArt's has made several announcements pertaining to their need for original/new IP to stay competitive in the gaming market.
Personally I put no faith in this "so-called" script even if legit it could just be some left over paperwork from a collaboration meeting which could of been rejected, green lit, or put on the back burner. I would love to see a KOTOR MMO (assuming it's not a WOW clone), but I'm not convinced that's what's going on here.

Well ... there is definitely SOMETHING going on with Star Wars over at Bioware - just visited a friend who had a voice over script and character breakdown for a Star Wars game laying about, with Bioware and the year "2008" printed on it.

DO WANT?
Not really sure about this honestly. I still haven't gotten through KOTOR II, got stuck at a point somewhere and gave up because I'm lazy.
I believe I'm stuck in the arena after a battle and I have no power-ups or weapons or armour so I can't get past all of the armed guards.

Currently I am stuck playing SWG wich is 80% of the time boring, I think its a great idea to make a KotoR MMO to relieve the people who still play SWG. However i also think that they need to finish the story line and make a regular RPG of KotoR 3,.......after KotoR 2 we all were left asking "Is that it?"
