Why can't we have this and good graphics? My PSP and PS3 for that matter need a good RPG/SRPG. Sup with that Sony?

Okay, which one is better. Jeanne D'Arc? or this? :)

I might be a little biased, but I like this one better. I'm the type of gamer who hates simple, easy things. Give me something convoluted and challenging and I'm in heaven (if you ever played Persona 2, you know exactly what I mean).

Jeanne is a fantastic game for those trying out the SRPG genre. Wild ARMs XF is for the people who want to master it.

seems like there are definately too many annoying issues to warrant giving this game a 9/10.

Jeanne d'Arc is nice. It is fairly simple, but I don't think that detracts from the game. There's a little grinding but not too much, unlike most tactical games. The graphics on Jeanne are really top notch, and the story is decent enough.

I'm about halfway through it, I'd say, and I enjoy it. Simple can be as fun as complicated.

I loved Jeanne d'Arc. One of the best SRPGs I've ever played. I'd have given it a 9.5/10, only because of it being slightly easy and the mixing of item became rather tedious after a while. I loved it so much, though, that I finished it three times. Can't say I've ever done that with another RPG...

Just because a game has some issues doesn't mean it shouldn't warrant a 9/10. If you come away from a game and honestly can say it's one of the most fun and engrossing experiences you've had with a game, then, problems aside, I would think that entitles the game to a 9. Obviously you understand the game is not perfect, but that's ridiculously unimportant because the game is just so much fun.

Besides, aren't all reviews just opinions given to others for them to help make an informed decision of their own? He pointed out what he felt were he main flaws of the game and the was fun about it... If he feels the game deserves a 9/10 by the point, it's his call. At least he made a case for his score.

Yeah I agree with what Dark Mirage said.

To kinda add to that, lotsa times when reviewing a well crafted game, its difficult to point out exactly what all the good points were. So what happens is that the few annoyances kind of stand out and it ends up being what is mainly described in the review.

Most recent example: wrong site, but take for example Smash Bros Brawl. Everyone absolutely loves the game, but every review hampers it cuz of its crappy online functionality, its boring and long Subspace Emissary, its crappy control schemes without the GC controller, etc. It's just what usually ends up happening =P.

So is it really that high-quality as CoO ... because that got a 9 to , and the only review thats up on Metacritics gave it a 4 ... could it be just a bit of nostalgia factor that gives it a 9 ?

I'm not sure how everyone else rates their titles, but I try to keep my reviews compared to others in the same or similar genre. Comparing a first person shooter to a sudoku game is hardly fair, right?

Jeanne d'Arc is definitely worth the $20, but it is pretty easy. But sometimes you want easy.
Definitely interested in this one--not lovin' the graphics, but if graphics were everything, who'd buy a DS? I kid, I kid...

i read the 1up review (gave it c-) and that made it sound worse where it basically comes to "trail and error" for every stage because you have to have certain classes to win... it doesn't sound fun anymore. When I play SRPGs I usually have diverse party that tries to cover all scenarios... does that work for this game?

@ shase -- your comment hasn't shown up yet, but I'll address it anyway. The "trial and error" statement by 1up is partially true, but I have a 6-person party of all different classes and I do just fine. How?

See, you have skill slots where you can equip the skill commands of other classes. Between my six characters, I can have the skills of 12 classes, or if I want to just have skills instead of special functions (like move-restore HP or being able to equip armor from a different class), I can have 18 different skillsets across six characters.

Trial and error? Please. It's easier if you can swap half of your characters to a certain class for some fights, but it's manageable, if challenging, to keep your party of different classes.
