Today's most retro hack: Four-player Ocarina of Time
Okay, maybe we're overselling what is, at this point, just a video of an early, choppy test version the hack. But considering it comes from the same people that brought us the ability to play as Dark Link and fight an Arwing in Ocarina of Time, we have no doubt he'll be able to pull it off. Whether the final result turns out more like Four Swords Adventures or The Wand of Gamelon, though, is still anyone's guess.

Someone's been drinking too much Lon Lon milk: I'm seeing quadruplets.

Looks like the buttons are for a gamecube controller.

Sure seems that way, given the colors and positions. Might as well change the C button GUI images to X, Y, and Z. :P
Mike Jenkins @ Mar 12th 2008 3:28AM
That seems like it might make it more accessible if it gets released

i bet its a master quest rom hack. the rom floating around is a GCN rip. and he probably used that one for higher resolution textures.

Since Joystiq wasn't working for me on the Brawl FC topic, I couldn't send replies to any of them. If you see your name on this list, leave me a reply here, alright?
Fernando Rocker @ Mar 12th 2008 1:30PM
Hi... send me yours...
By the way... everyone from Joystiq, put a Joystiq tag in the SSBB message, to recognize each other.

Amazing!
But what happens at the point where you have to change Tunics! Everyone will be blue link in the water temple!
ANARCHY!!!

What about when one of them gets the Master Sword? Then itll just be one adult babysitting 3 kids.
Dr. Stabbingworth @ Mar 12th 2008 8:55AM
You have to babysit three brats but you get to plow Zelda in your free time. I probably won't play this anyway, since it's starting to sound like a real-life simulation.
Shimrra @ Mar 12th 2008 10:25AM
Does anyone really care about something like this. I mean ok to an extent its nice idea but whats the sense of showing this off if regular gamers or fans of the series can't even play? Just because it may have sounded like a good idea doesnt mean when its done it is a good idea.
waynski1457 @ Mar 12th 2008 5:23PM
that idea sounds pretty damn sweet!
Anam @ Mar 12th 2008 7:43PM
I don't know, it sounds like an awful idea to me.
I'm sorry, but Ocarina of Time was an awesome game because of fantastic controls, puzzles that played well with those controls and a very good balance of game length and pacing.
Now add in multiplayer.
The design of the original can't work in multiplayer because the view/camera has to be different to support four players and the puzzles wouldn't work well with four players. For example, imagine trying to navigate the water temple when you don't have control of the camera.
Finally, the pacing of a single-player game simply can't work in a multiplayer game. People get bored. One player may want to fish while someone else wants to go to the shadow temple while someone else wants to work towards a larger wallet. And you'll always have that one person that will insist on collecting EVERY SINGLE RUPEE from the grass.
It's a great idea when you imagine playing the game with clones of yourself who like doing exactly the same things as you. Throw in real people and it goes to shit.

And wait for Kaepora Gaebora speak to me four times. No way man.
