Gamespot gets hands-on with new Call of Duty 4 maps

Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling ("fourzerotwo" to you Call of Duty 4 fans) promised us something different from the game's first map pack, and Gamespot recently got a hands-on with two of the maps to put that to the test. The first map is called "Broadcast," set in the TV station from the single-player mission "Charlie Don't Surf." The largely indoor level has been expanded significantly from the single-player campaign though.

Next up is "Creek," a sprawling outdoor map full of natural cover from foliage and (you guessed it) a creek. There will be two more maps in the final pack, "Chinatown" and "Killhouse," which is apparently inspired by the single-player campaign's training level. I probably won't buy these. I haven't bought maps in a very long time. Plus, cod4 is old (even though its fucking awesome)

hmmm, maybe the tv station map will change my mind about the marine/opfor maps. for some reason, I love all the spetsnaz/SAS maps, but if any of the marine/opfor maps come up I leave the server and find a new one. feels like I'm playing a totally different game for some reason. I hope they'll add a filter in a patch to let you filter between the 2 types

I don't mind sniper fest maps. As long as I can flank their position without being UAVed to death. Its so annoying on simple maps like bog where there isnt much room to move around. Plus all the dumb ass teammates that just walk into bullets gets old too.

Snipers aren't too bad, and nothing beats shoving a knife in their backs when they least expect it. ;)

I agree...its easy to hide in one place and snipe people from miles away, rather than taking an assault rifle and facing the music. real mean don't snipe, death to snipers aaarghhhh X(

Everytime I hear about there being too many snipers online, I always wonder why I never die by a sniper bullet. Oh, that's because I don't go prancing about in the open.

I hate getting sniped, for sure, but when I can camp on the top level of the wetworks and get 20 kills 0 deaths, I'm loving the sniping. :-)

The Killhouse level sounds cool. I played that stupid training mission 20 times and still didnt get under the 15 seconds or whatever the record was. 19 sec was all i could muster.

I'd buy a full expansion, but 4 poxy maps should be a giveaway for everyone who's still playing to keep the community going.

It's 18 seconds I believe, and I could only get about 18.5 or 19 seconds, too. Fenix told me to use the pistol and get one shot per, but I gotta admit - I ain't that good.

I can't wait for this, it'll give me a reason to put Brawl down for a bit whenever it's released. The Tv Station is going to be an insane mess of sparks and cubicle debris!

So Im guessing they'll add these maps in the CE eddition like they did with previous versions of COD and keep the price the same. The price of early adoption.

Yeah, that's it. They're going to add the new maps free in the CE edition - which came out day and date with the regular version, months ago.

I'm happy to see that Infinity Ward is giving me more reasons to play this game. Well done IW, for making the masterpiece that CoD4 is! I'll be getting these maps when they come out because I can't wait to play the TV Station and Creek maps!

theres a roumor floating around the comunity of 5 more prestiges getting added as well, i myself would welcome this after 22 hours of play im stuck at 10 and i dont have anything to work towards anymore and yes i know i could just start again but that would mean undoing all ive achieved. ps i agree snipers just like those idiots that team kill and nube chube on hardcore mode. they are ruining an amazing game!
