Halo 3's Team Hardcore being rebranded as MLG playlist
Major League Gaming (MLG) announced that Halo 3's Team Hardcore playlist is being rebranded as the MLG Playlist. The change will become effective in the April update and more details are to follow on what this exactly means.According to MLG, they've helped develop game types that ensure fair competition and emphasize skill. Bungie will incorporate these settings in the new playlists. MLG also states that it will produce a series called "Get Better Fast" to familiarize players with strategies and tactics used by MLG pros. At least this puts the competitive

I've been pretty scared recently. With the PS3 starting to get some sales COD4 has begun to get pre-puberty racist/homophobic/dumb-trash-talk people online. I liked it better when the PS3 was $600 and I mostly just to worry about racist/track talking adults.
Zeus.:God @ Mar 13th 2008 6:56PM
Eh, that's what happens when a console becomes more popular. Been dealing with that on Xbox LIVE for ages, but then again... XBL is also a well established service, so it's to be expected.
Wonderflex @ Mar 13th 2008 7:01PM
It's sad - almost makes me wish that they could ban the sales and playing of M-rated games to minors. Sure, adults can trash talk too, and some can be rather racist, but it's been crazy since I started to hear the babies online. They are the most foul mouthed, ignorant, people I've ever seen online. Not all though, mind you - just a lot of them.

What I would absolutely love is to be able to age-restrict those you play against. Into 18 and up and 18 and under. Make it so kids can only play against other kids and adults who are willing to do the same, or just play against jerks who's voice has cracked.

So they put a silhouette of a PS2/PS3 controller in the pic?
(and the rectangle is sort of shaped like Wii Remote.)
Yuccadude @ Mar 13th 2008 7:05PM
Apparently that is the MLG logo if you weren't in the know.

I also am afraid of homophones. What if I think the wrong thing when someone says, "I enjoy carrots" and I think they are a gold digger because they might have said, "I enjoy carats"?
CrimsonOkie @ Mar 13th 2008 9:09PM
I feel your pain.

I never really liked MLG.
MLG themselves seem fine.
But the kids who support MLG just seem like dickheads. Most of them seem like they sucked at sports so they decided want to play video games professionally to feel like the hours they put into video games meant something. I played them in Halo 2(not actual MLG players but wanna-bes) and I got my ass handed to me of course. Then I played some in Halo 3 and did a little better since that was a game I was familiar with but it still sucked since they only used BRs.
You could say I'm just complaining because I suck but it just seems that they ruin games and are ruining gaming by trying to make it a HxC sport. I could probably keep up with some in Smash Bros., but of course they'd make it Final Destination with Items off, right?
o well.
/rant.
Fernando Rocker @ Mar 13th 2008 7:23PM
Thats my favorite... if anyone wants to challengue me...
Final Destination, 1-1, 3 Stocks, No Weapons.
Wonderflex @ Mar 13th 2008 7:27PM
Well, to be kinda honest, there isn't a better test of straight character skill than playing on Final Destination with no items, but I personally don't think that is a test of a Smash Bros player.
The game comes standard out of the box with medium amount of all items turned on and very few levels even close to as bland as Final Destination. IMHO, being good at Smash Bros means mastering items, and the stages. Not just the characters.

"Now, Bungie, can we please get a post-puberty non-racist/homophobic/dumb-trash-talk playlist?"
lol... can I get a car that flies?
CB @ Mar 13th 2008 11:34PM
I just can't see myself playing Halo 3 in a competitive mode.
GreyFox @ Mar 14th 2008 12:27AM
I guess this finally relegates "pro" MLG players to their place where they can yell "staged", "fake" and "noob" to each other leaving us only to deal with kids.
Nate @ Mar 14th 2008 12:41AM
Can someone explain what the hell this article is talking about? What is a playlist besides a group of songs on my MP3 player?
alu @ Mar 14th 2008 2:11PM
in halo terms, it's like a very restrictive server browser (for games).
Razor_1138 @ Mar 14th 2008 4:35AM
To be honest, I think that an MLG Playlist is what will revive H3 for me. I'm more of a Halo CE person myself, but the fact that I can now play a game without the bells and whistles (equipment and sword/hammer) makes me wanna play again and not get shitted out of kills by luck and random swinging. Don't get me wrong, this is just one opinion. If people don't want to play without radar and start out by spray-n-prey....so be it, don't! It's an option, nothing required for you to play. Just try not to down everything b/c you don't like it or think it's no good and going to suck. New additions that I don't have to pay for are awsome in my book, weather I use it or not. That's my 2 cent.
