Alone in the Dark trailer drives into our fears
13
A lot has been said about Atari's latest foray into the Alone in the Dark series. From touting features like next-gen sticky tape and flammable everything, Alone in the Dark still looks like it has the potential to do the one thing it was always intended to do - scare us. While the above trailer does have a few "what the!" moments, it showcases another feature added to the series, vehicles. One thing we can say about the latest footage is the environments look fantastic. We're hopeful for this one and can't wait to play it when it finally scares up at retail this May. Oh and before you ask, Christian Slater is not an unlockable character.

As things stand, Alone in the Dark is my pick for most anticipated game of this year.
Keep us up to date, X3F..especially if you learn anything about the creatures, monsters or character bios.

It looks more promising after every new video I watch. Its gone from really rather off the radar to being quite highly anticipated.
Hopefully it lives up to the hype it seems to be generating. Of course scare some people along the way!
As for the car sequence, all I hope is that they make the driving manageable. It could be really good, though vehicles can easily ruin the experience. (The driving portion that is).

I'm not much of a survival horror man, but this game does look pretty awesome, enough to make me want to buy it just so I can play around with the physics.
Hopefully the game itself will also be enjoyable (if that's a word that can be used for this type of game) and not have too many (if any) "if you don't do this NOW, you'll die and then have to go all the way back to the start of this section only to get killed in the same way again" sections (frustrates the hell out of me when that happens).

This makes the game look less scary and makes it look like something I can actually play which is good because it looks god damned amazing. o.o

@Magic Whiskey:
Do you work for Atari or something? Anyway the game is shaping up nicely and it will be interesting to see how it turns out...even if the main character is magically impervious to fire.

andyface, I think what you're referring to are "quick time events". They're piss-poor when just thrown-in for fun, but are actually a cool part of core gameplay when used correctly (a'la RE4).
But as others have said, every video they release makes me get more and more excited for this game, and it makes it look like they've added a finer and finer coat of polish each time.
Guess that means they're doing their job.

Yeah I did mean "quick time events", I assume you mean Resident Evil 4 by RE4, I played through that and enjoyed it and also can't recall any annoying qtes (hurrah for acronyms) forcing me to replay bits over and over, so I guess you're right. There's a lot of stuff with games that require proper usage to esure that stuff is fun instead of annoying, so I'll rephrase what I said before.
I hope that the bits of the video that have an act fast look to them (quick time events, for those in the know :D ) aren't poorly done so that people like me don't get killed constantly by a merciless lump of debris.

No unlockable Christian Slater!? What gives, damn that was the one thing I was looking forward too...
...though I see there is nothing denying an unlockable Uwe Boll, oh yeahhh.

This game looks kind of... unremarkable. I just doesn't seem very scary. I don't know, maybe I missed something in the trailer. Nice fire physics though.
