Manhunt 2 UK ban officially lifted
After a tumultuous history of appeals, appeals, and more appeals, the British High Court has finally lifted the ban on Rockstar's controversial title Manhunt 2. The PS2 and Nintendo Wii versions of the game have been cleared for release in the UK, and will carry an "18" rating.
The Video Appeals Committee has stood its ground regarding the release of the censored version of Manhunt 2, stating that it depicts no greater violence than any other release in Britain bearing an 18 certificate. The British Board of Film Classifications has finally seen the light, so it seems, and recognizes that the title will indeed land on shelves without further interruption.
No word yet on when Manhunt 2 will finally be released in the UK, or if anyone still cares about last year's controversial game.

Great, now those wacky brits can enjoy this piece of garbage. Cheerio.
Co @ Mar 14th 2008 11:28AM
I thought it was a decent game. Wasn't great, but it filled a down weekend for me.
bigsofty @ Mar 14th 2008 7:07PM
Garbage game anyways...
Fernando Rocker @ Mar 14th 2008 10:46AM
Just let that mediocre game die.
Luke Smith @ Mar 14th 2008 10:49AM
Making this Whole Debate a waste of time.
samfish @ Mar 14th 2008 10:49AM
May as well. No one's gonna play that piece of crap anyway.
Fernando Rocker @ Mar 14th 2008 11:14AM
Wanna brawl again? =p
PSN: KillaKornbread (the shirt is a lie!) @ Mar 14th 2008 10:49AM
maybe they finally realized that nobody will buy the game anyway. a whole lot of hub-bub for nothing if you ask me.
RDX @ Mar 14th 2008 10:50AM
Well, it seems all of you guys had the exact same thing to say as me so...
Happy...early...St...Patrick's Day?

Yay. Though seeing how one of the most bloodthirstiest nation of all time having a hissy fit about it, I still expect that games with violence are still going to get shafted like its nobody's business.
Thing is, I do not care if you think this game sucks. If it sucks, then let it die in the market place. Just because you think it is a bad game does not mean it should be banned for reflecting violence in the real world.

You fool. You should know that the english accent prevents blood thirstiness. Only the American dialect allows for blood thirstiness.

It's not our fault we're vampires.
Maverick Saturn @ Mar 14th 2008 4:01PM
Let me just remind you, we were not the ones raping, beating each other up and shooting each other while waiting for our PS3s, Wiis or 360s, lol, right...
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Mar 14th 2008 4:49PM
Actually, it was only the PS3 launch that had those issues. The Wii and 360 launches went off basically without a hitch.
xFenixKnightx @ Mar 14th 2008 10:59AM
"Hey guys the Manhunt ban has ben lifted!"
...
"Yeah, and?"
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Mar 14th 2008 11:00AM
Is anybody else fucking tired of that picture.
ThePremierAssassin @ Mar 14th 2008 11:05AM
Ditto...
BTW how did sales of this game go as far as the US?
Has it even reached a million yet?
Jerk Face @ Mar 14th 2008 11:05AM
Yes.
Spin44 @ Mar 14th 2008 2:26PM
anyone who actually cared about this game would have imported it or pirated it

Yay! Now I can ignore this pile of shit by choice now! I still think the only reason the BBFC banned the lightweight version of this game, is that they saw though Rockstar using them to generate hype, and took a shit on the plan of some smug, marketing twats.
NATO_Duke @ Mar 14th 2008 11:36AM
How nice of them to lift a ban on a game that isn't worth buying as it is.
They should have just said it was a ban to prevent wasting money on crap, and kept it in place.
License to ill @ Mar 14th 2008 11:42AM
Damn talk about beating a dead horse...
Kassu @ Mar 14th 2008 11:51AM
Oh, boy, by the time this ends, we will all have shitstains on our clothes. You know, because of the storm.
benmully @ Mar 14th 2008 12:41PM
I don't think this has anything to do with the game being crap. This was all about censorship in UK. The game was very tame for an 18 license and should never have been blocked in the first place. BBFC need to balance censorship between film and games.
RabbidMickeyMouse @ Mar 14th 2008 1:06PM
I hope this kills the pretentious debating about censorship in videogames, or games-as-art nonsense.
Pointz @ Mar 14th 2008 1:10PM
You guys say 'yeah, and' but you aren't seeing the big picture. The fact that a game this "violent" got its ban lifted is a victory for gaming and freedom of speech. What if BBFC said no and banned Mass Effect or GTAIV, maybe then you guys wouldn't say 'Yeah, and'.
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Mar 14th 2008 1:39PM
They may still ban GTA4
Eoco @ Mar 14th 2008 2:12PM
It's less about the game, but more about the principle.
Maverick Saturn @ Mar 14th 2008 4:02PM
Lol, one dog down, GTA4 to go :)
Pointless lift, the game is old news now.
forestofdeath @ Mar 14th 2008 7:47PM
now i feel oblidged to ask, was it even worth it? -_-
Sidepocket @ Mar 15th 2008 1:47AM
Yes it was.
If you were at GDC, that was one of the big things they were talking about. Thanks to your rating board, other game studios are shit scared of selling bloody games to the EU market. Seriously.
Ethan @ Mar 14th 2008 9:11PM
Consider my ghast flabbered. Let's hope it doesn't find it's way into too many under 18's and prove their point though, 'cause I don't think they ever had one.
Shieru-sensei @ Mar 14th 2008 10:04PM
Meanwhile in germany, the situation continues to be crappy. Just a few weeks ago, the first "Condemned" has been confiscated, which means selling this game - even to adults - is punishable by law.
hvnlysoldr @ Mar 30th 2008 2:23PM
Time to hunt down some red coats.
