Report: Mexican game industry worth $1B by 2010
Mexico is often treated as the neglected stepchild of the North American video game market, trying its best to garner the attention of publishers while the U.S. and Canada get showered with releases just for existing. That situation might not last for long, though, as the analysts at Research and Markets say the Mexican video game business could be worth over $1 billion by the end of the decade.Of course they have good reason to talk up the Mexican sector, as they're trying to sell a new, expensive report about it. But they make a good argument that an aging population of Mexican "young, unmarried gamers, or YUGS" could drive growth. In short, Mexican youths are getting married older and older on average, meaning they live with their parents longer and have more disposable income to use on games -- what the report calls "a decade of cash-flush YUGGIES of prime gaming age." Just what we need ... another country full of socially reclusive gamers living in their parents' basements.

I hope this thread don't become in a full of racists thread.
Really, I hate, hate stereotypes... Living here in USA, I still find hard to believe why most US citizens thin that Mexico and his cities are like ghost towns with "cantinas" and people in horses with sombreros drinking tequila.
Is normal country... even Nuevo Laredo, my city, is a relatie small city, with 200,000 population. It's a normal city. You can find a lot of stores from US... HEB, Walmart, Blockbuster, McDonalds, Burger King, Office Depot, Office Max, Applebes... and with videogames almost in every young mens house.
Really, people need to open more their minds... this are pics from Nuevo Laredo, please look all the pics

I totally agree, what the hell is wrong with that stereotype! if you come to Tijuana (I live there) the Avenida Revolucion isn't the whole city!! we even have a Wal-mart! and Mexico City if FULL of gamers...
jorojoserojas @ Mar 14th 2008 2:31AM
It does look nice. A lot better than Laredo, that's for sure.
Laredo scares me everytime I go to Mexico.
Gehodra @ Mar 14th 2008 2:45AM
Hmmm, a conundrum. Part of it is that half of the people who you think are racists are just joking and it's due to the subject matter and the translation over the internet that the comment is interpreted as racism.
This is when I would typically say something amusing, but I'm sure that as clear as I was, someone, with a single-digit IQ no less, would interpret it as racism.
Actually... nevermind, I succeeded.

My boss is from Monterrey. As I'm English, we are both dirty immigrants stealing American jobs so we tend to stick together.

I'm from further down south, Zacatecas, and its really nice. I have Jalisco and Aguascalientes bordering us, yay :D I live in Texas though but its fun going back to Mexico every now and then.
However, videogame prices are ridiculous there.
Genius @ Mar 14th 2008 11:21AM
My wife is from Torreon MX and Ive been there a few times, its definitely not the best looking place Ive ever seen and yes there are donkeys, and chickens on the streets but it has charm in its own way i suppose. One thing I specifically remember is how active the arcades there are, holy crap youll never see an arcade as packed here in the states as you will there.
xtremuuuu @ Mar 14th 2008 12:51PM
Yes, prices tend to be a little way over!
However, I recently found in my nearest Blockbuster's Game Rush No More Heroes for $450 pesos, which equals around $40 dollars. :o!

Not rascist, and I try not to prejudge, or stereotype. But as I looked at those beautiful pictures of your home city. All I could hear was a mariachi band. And someone with a thick accent saying "Come veeseet mehicho homes, ees goooood."
I damned near dropped my son when I saw the dancing girls.

Didn't you get the memo, Fernando? Hating Mexicans is the new trend. You see, we were recently told we needed to hate people from the Middle-East. Then we were told to fear gay marriage (a really bad President actually managed to win a second term on that one--but I haven't heard much about it since. Where's bin Laden? Hey, we've got gay people getting married here!). Now, it's the Mexicans that are supposedly ruining our country.
It's funny that so few seem able to grasp the pattern. Governments promote fear to distract the people from the real problems: Such as a crushing deficit, a faith-based fiat currency, massive corruption, etc. We are in Iraq for one reason: the battle to control the last remaining readily available energy resources on the planet. Mexicans are simply another casualty in the war on reason. Don't worry, Fernando--after the fence has been built, and tons of (soon to be worthless) money wasted, our government will give us something else to fear.

To be on the serious note here, Microsoft is doing a great job marketing in the Mexican market, unlike Nintendo or Sony; though Sony is coming through though.
Still considering the Video Game market in Mexico is very expensive, people manage to do buy games. And like I said Microsoft is doing a very good job at this.
On the comical-ironic note: Mexico is probably the leading market in Video game and any digital media piracy in the World, along with China of course.
rokerovakero @ Mar 14th 2008 3:45AM

For many americans Mexico is a stereotype, people with sombreros (i'm mexican and i do not know where to sell sombreros), mariachi, horses, puff... Mexico is a big country, one of the richest in Latin America.

If Mexico is so rich why do they keep jumping our borders? Why don't they stay in Mexico? We(Americans) need to make a better border fence.
CJLopez @ Mar 14th 2008 5:03PM
That's the sad part, we may be a rich country, but just for a 10%, the rest, are the ones that jump the border
Mexico's wealth is pretty fucked up distributed, that's why there are so many poor people over here, and also everyone hears about the american dream and are dazzed by it
b33eazy @ Mar 14th 2008 7:12AM
How about u Mexicans eat some taco bell senor taco bell
lol.
Chris @ Mar 14th 2008 7:23AM
In all countries there are poor people, Mexico has more than 100 million people, in United States there are 100 million Mexican immigrants? Not, ok. People who cross the border are people of humble small towns, not the big cities like Mexico City, Monterrey, Guadalajara, Cancun, etc, etc.
xFenixKnightx @ Mar 14th 2008 8:41AM
b33eazy
I know you were joking but actually Mexicans never eat at Taco Bell. The only people making Taco Bell rich are white people. True story, =)
Fernando Rocker @ Mar 14th 2008 9:57AM
Taco Bell? Yeah right.
NATO_Duke @ Mar 14th 2008 11:40AM
Anyone from Mexico knows that Del Taco is better.
Oh, Señor Naugles....anyone? C'mon!
Mr.ESC @ Mar 14th 2008 12:52PM
First Taco bell sucks and it was designed to feed the white trash, poor students and well poor people in general. Same is true for McDonalds, Wendy's etc etc.
Funny how everywhere in the World but in the U,S McDonalds are clean, nice and count with a wider selection of food not to mention that they are designed for the middle class like the McDonalds in Pisa, Italy or México City McDonalds located in the periphery which is the biggest McDonalds not only in Mexico bun Central and South America
About your comment it doesn’t make sense.
CJLopez @ Mar 14th 2008 5:07PM
I'm mexican, and I do like Taco Bell, always that i go visit my sis on phoenix, i wanna eat some, xD

This is true about the stereo types (poor Mexicans) shoot, my cousins from Monterrey had the PSWii60 waaaaayyy b4 me. They are rollin' out there. They dont want to come live in the US. Only people from small towns and ranches come over here.
Also the thing that most people dont know is that there are so many serious Mexican Gamer Clans out there. Im talking about 50 to 100 deep just in 1 clan. Run into these guys on MP games like COD4 or Gears on LIVE and they will utterly destroy you calling you a Puto all the way =P
Oh yeah Yuccadude,

I think they meant to say that the Mexican game market in the USA will be $1bn at the rate we're going.
The Fuzz 53 @ Mar 14th 2008 9:08AM
If Mexico is so fucking great, then why the hell can't you keep your people there? Why do they have to come here and steal free healthcare and welfare benefits all while working under the table and not paying any taxes while they leach off of us?
xFenixKnightx @ Mar 14th 2008 9:38AM
Some Mexicans dont find it so great...you know, like the Germans, Irish, Spanish, British, Italians, Asians, and Arabs didnt like all their repective countrys a long time ago as well. So, they came here.
Genius!
Fernando Rocker @ Mar 14th 2008 9:56AM
Dude... please, understand. That people is people that lives in ranchs, farms... very humble people.
bulgedeyes @ Mar 14th 2008 10:13AM
Fuzz, man, you are not familiar with the realities of the system. Illegal immigrants are not given federal assistance, for food and healthcare. Their children, if they are born here, are. Should the United States take this away? Why should a child have to pay for a crime their parents committed (crossing the border)? As far as not paying taxes, pop open the New York Times every now and then and you'll see that illegal immigrants DO pay into the system, and very rarely claim taxes back (because of their documentation). Had it not been for them, Social Security might have died out a long time ago -- hurting your own relatives. Mexicans come here illegally because they are offered jobs illegally. The crime is happening on both sides: the aliens and the employers. Why just attack the aliens? If employers offered decent wages, I'm sure more native-born Americans would be working the fields. That's not happening now. You shouldn't feel threatened. In America, we live by Darwin's rule. If you get yourself a good education -- and double-check the facts -- there is no reason to feel threatened by immigrants looking to live a humble, and oppressive-free, existence here. Without health and food assistance, these people are left to their own hard work and perseverance to survive and give their kids the lives they never had. And, yes, my father came here illegally, but is now a citizen.

“Why do they have to come here and steal free healthcare and welfare benefits all while working under the table and not paying any taxes while they leach off of us?”
Tell when people got free healthcare in the U.S? Last time I checked U.S Healthcare was pretty bad and the welfare benefits doesn’t cover companies and factories outsourcing to Asia.
News:All Immigrants worldwide work without any healthcare or welfare benefits that why they are cheap.
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Mar 14th 2008 1:42PM
Anyone can walk into any emergency room and get healthcare. You get billed for it, but since we don't have debtors prison, if you can't pay, just get a new SS# and assume someone elses identity. Problems solved (if you're an illegal).
The Fuzz 53 @ Mar 14th 2008 3:29PM
And guess what, the people that you mention that came here did it LEGALLY. They went through the necessary channels and became TAX PAYING citizens, not fucking leaches.
xFenixKnightx @ Mar 14th 2008 3:58PM
Fuzz have you ever seen Gangs of New York?? Although the story is made up there are some real historical events in it.
Its pretty interesting that boatloads and boatloads of Irish kept coming in and the only reason they were made legal is becuase the US needed soldiers for the war and because of corruptive politicians.
Nobody came here legally ass wipe. Did the Native Americans give them their greencard when they landed you jackass?! STFU you closeminded bastard!
