Today in Joystiq: March 14, 2008
Over 20,000 Swarovski crystals were used to make the Wii case pictured above (picture of Bowser on the other side) given to the winner of the Smash Bros Brawl competition -- or you can presumably pay Crystal Icing the retail price of $4,000. (Via Engadget) Check out the highlights for today:

Wow.
That's ugly.
OhJustSomeRandomGuy @ Mar 16th 2008 1:18PM
Are these Swarovski crystals like BeDazzler of the 2000s? That's ugly as sin, and the edges don't even properly align.
SoulBlade @ Mar 15th 2008 12:35AM
I wonder if it causes more heating problems. It's a pretty cool trophy I'd say.

I'd have so bought that if they made one of Zelda. I never use King Koopa or Mr. Mario!
Trickob @ Mar 15th 2008 1:51AM
hope everyone had a happy pi day! :D
ThornedVenom (Harley Quinn Defense Force) @ Mar 15th 2008 4:52AM
I couldn't care less about the fact that they had used crystals to cover the whole console. But it's the fact that somebody did the Mario artwork on it from little bits of color, like for a mosaic, which really stuns me.
FINISH THE BRAWL.

Tacky.
Then again, this whole "bling" trend is made of 100% awful and tackiness.
Hotmale @ Mar 15th 2008 6:23AM
That is awful.
Almost as awful as Brawl itself.
ChooChooCharlie @ Mar 15th 2008 8:54AM
The only reason you are saying that is because:
A: You suck at Brawl
B: You have never played Brawl
You know, I didn't much enjoy your comments before you were banned the first time. And you don't seem to have changed much since then. You used to be a troll, now you're just a cynical troll.
LaughingTarget @ Mar 15th 2008 8:56AM
The answer is B. Being good at a game isn't a precursor to enjoying it.
Man of Peace @ Mar 15th 2008 9:13AM
I wasn't banned. I took vacation.
I resent being called a troll. It's defamation. Please stop.
ChooChooCharlie @ Mar 15th 2008 10:02AM
From Wikipedia.org:
Troll -
"someone who posts controversial [sic] messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, with the intention of baiting other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion."
I think that sums up your post pretty nicely.
Jonny @ Mar 15th 2008 10:25AM
Charlie, Wikipedia isn't always right. In fact, it has many factual errors. I wouldn't use that site as a source. There are real trolls on this site like Fernando, Fenix, Samfish...I just express my true opinions. Brawl is not as good as everyone says. I have it. It's too laggy online. Barely playable. Only against people in your immediate vicinity is the game any good.
fred @ Mar 15th 2008 10:44AM
You're a troll, and unlike samfish, fernando et al. everyone hates you. Please leave forever or get banned kthx.
ChooChooCharlie @ Mar 15th 2008 11:03AM
I knew you would knock Wikipedia, but unfortunately, until Webster's decides to update their vocabulary, internet-based reference sites will have to do. I suppose I could have just stated the definition without citing it, but then I'd hear something about that too. Besides, you and I both know what a troll is. And you know exactly what you're trying to accomplish with these flame-bait posts.
And you're right about Brawl being laggy. Does that make it a terrible game? No. Local multiplayer works as well as ever. Ever wonder why it is so laggy?
(HINT: because everyone else loves it and is clogging the servers)
Super Smash @ Mar 15th 2008 11:28AM
Alright, let's agree to this. I'll play Halo 3 on Xbox Live, the best online service currently available, lag-free on high speed connections, and you play Smash over staccato wi-fi. You're happy. I'm happy.
ChooChooCharlie @ Mar 15th 2008 12:39PM
Well, at least you've revealed your fanboy allegiance.
And you've got to be kidding me about LIVE. I too have a LIVE account and it is FAR from perfect. If it is as "lag free" and solid as you say, then why is it that I can spend 20 minutes looking for a match in FEAR only to be lagged out half way through the game, or join a band in quickplay in Rock Band and not be able to tell if my band mate is hitting any notes during the song (again due to lag)? And I can't even tell you how many times I've experienced Halo matches that were exploited because of lag, where I'm literally pumping entire clips of ammo into some guy and he is just standing there, with nothing happening - only to have him all of a sudden appear behind me and assassinate me.
And of course, let's not forget about that December/January LIVE malfunction.
Don't give me any BS about my connection speed, either. I have a T1 equivalent connection that works fine for internet and what not. Like I said, the Brawl online is less than stellar, but keep in mind that this Nintendo's first real online attempt - it won't be as good as LIVE right out of the gate.

If the sun reflects off of that and hits your eyeballs consider them fucked.
Anyways, a very unique mod indeed.....

I'm sorry, but I have to say that that is incredibly gay. Nothing else would scream more "gay" unless it had more rhinestones.
Now if the case was solid crystal or clear/transparent, THAT would be a cool, tournament worthy prize.
Saria the Cat @ Mar 16th 2008 5:24PM
:( That poor, innocent case. What did it do to you? Amazing artwork but those sticky cell phone/Ipod/gadget rhinestone things just aren't my kind of medium. Even as the token girl, I would be embarrassed to have that thing in my possession.
