Super Smash Brothers for the N64 and Melee for the GC got the same ratings. Those games were both before the E10+ rating came out. I recall reading a similar query about the original Smash in an issue of Nintendo Power back in the day. Possibly the ESRB just looked at the content of the previous games to give it the same rating. Parents should be looking at the info on the back of the case. Brawl is rated T for Teen, according to the ESRB with "Cartoon Violence" and "Crude Humor."

It totally deserves a ''T'' rating. Whenever I play it, I feel the urge to beat my friends upon the head with a trophy stand.

None of these other posts matter, because 'da governator' just won the thread. The game could've been M for all they care and they wouldnt've noticed it anyway.

ssbb doesn't merit a T rating. Just fine for 7+ IMHO! No more violent than Y7 TV shows! Btw, cool ssbb map here: http://mapwii.com/ssbb

I personally believe that Brawl should have gotten an E10 for one reason. most people are going to ignore the rating, so why not put it in that range?

I'm pretty sure it is there for the stupid stories we hear all the time. Like the one where the girl died because some idiot did a "this is Sparta!!!" to her.

It's because Coin battles encourage players to beat the crap out of somebody and take their money. What happens when kids start to emulate this in real life?

I'm just kidding.

When the R.O.B.s set the Ancient Minister on fire and watched him burn I said "there's the Teen rating right there"

Kirby and Pikachu are buck naked. This should be an M at least.

I've been trying to get good with said subtly complex Jigglypuff all week, but alas, I suck something fierce with her.

I want to do the Eldin glitch with her but online is the only place to show friends and you cant say, "Stop, I wanna glitch." and sit and wait for the bridge to blow up.

I think that the ESRB itself is a farce. It makes up stupid arbitrary rules that fluctuate based on parental lobby groups touting that it's "hurting our kids".

Rather than invest time in lobby groups to increase game ratings, how about raising your goddamn kids?

I don't feel sorry for those little fuckers at all, at least the games out in their country.

Did you guys see how DK kicked Koopa ass?

I think it is like that because you can see it constantly(Vs. 100 times) and crude humor is on Wario's part....but I never use him and no one online uses him. I loved how (spoiler) Tabuu got violent with Master Hand and they even included realistic blood marks.(spoiler)

and it's not like a parent will be so restricting that their ten year old cant play. Not as restricting as an M-Rated game where you need an ID to play though.

Maybe it's rated T, because it has character from M Rated games?

The real question is how in the HELL Shadow the Hedgehog got an E-10 with all of its guns and alien killing and cursing while this got a Teen rating. It makes no sense at all. The only remote justification for it is that this has Zero Suit Samus in it and that is really, really dumb.

T is appropriate. The game may feature cartoon violence, but it's as violent as games get. There's no blood or guts, but you still shoot people with guns and stuff. There's no reason to be outraged over this.

If a game had voice chat and video conference abilities, I think the potential for "M-rated user content" could be something games as "innocent" as Smash Bros. will suffer.

It's obviously the manliness of Snake, Captain Falcon, and Captain Olimar. Oh and the "attitude" of Sonic. First he delays the game and now this.
