When we started to write this, we were going to make jokes about how Link hates Zelda when he's not rescuing her, and how they have a dysfunctional relationship and all that, and then maybe about how Super Smash Bros. Brawl started with a Super Smash Bros. Yelling Match.
But then we noticed something: Zelda is clearly in the foreground, because she's drawn slightly bigger than Link, and because Link has turned toward the camera to look at her. And yet his hair is somehow in front of hers. A horribly out-of-context scene plus a technical flub? Good luck outbidding us!

Dic Owns! Zelda was one of my favorite cheezy cartoons of the late 80s. This Zelda and Link should of made it into the smash bros game :-) along with captain n.

Hey, that's another character they could have make it into de Brawl cast, Captain N!!!!!
Damn, i'd have lovedto use someone like him, with an ability to control a carachter (only nintendo characters) with his power glove, and firing like fox using the nintendo zapper, man, i'd really would have loved something like that!!!!

Link's shoulder also seems to go over her chest. My hypothesis is that Link is being carried off by Zelda, who's become an Amazon warrior, and he's yelling at some passerby to save him. They aren't, of course, and Zelda's going to bash his brains in with a hammer.

This is really just an assembly error. Each of those elements would have been on a different cell (there's probably a good dozen acetate cells to make that up), and whoever assembled the cells together put Link's hair over top of Zelda.

Aren't animation frames made up of 3-4 different layers of plastic cells? My guess is that whoever is selling this handpainted cell put the Link cell over the Zelda cell.

I hope this is ok, it has the scene that has that cell, so pretty much its just bad animation, since really they had a cheap budget making it with Super Mario Bros Super Show, there were many many issues with the Mario Cartoon then there were for Zeldas.

And then, the day finally came when Link was excused.
Violently.

Maybe Zelda ate one of poison mushrooms that Mario always eat and she is actually in the background.
