Japanese hardware sales, March 3 - March 9: Torch passing edition

Many of you may be startled to see your beloved Japanese hardware sales chart with both a schedule and author irregular. As you may have pieced together from the title, everyone's favorite Chocolate Log-loving South African blogger has tasked this lowly weekend editor with maintaining the sacred stream of statistics in order to scare up some free time to finish writing the ol' novel. Little does he know how easily I become intoxicated when trusted with meager amounts of power.

You may have your precious numbers and accompanying arrows this week, but the steady font of sales figures will only continue should I, with my immeasurable prudence, deem you worthy. As swiftly as I breathed new life into this once-great feature, I can just as easily lower my grim claw from the armrest of my obsidian throne, and relentlessly crush its fragile windpipe.

Keeping this solemn promise in mind, let's get our chart on.

As for the chart itself, I wish we had seen the past few weeks' so that I would know what the deal is with the PSP vs. DS. Has the DS been dethroned?

Everyone has DS now, in fact, everyone has all 5 of thier Ds' now, so its slowing down. Its not that PSP is taking over, its in the same position it was before, only slightly higher sales.

Heh, you don't have to be Ludwig to post a sales chart. Besides, i found the prose very amusing :-)

On topic, though, I expected the up 'n' down nature of things to show themselves before this. Testament to the PSP's climb upwards, or to just how much money the DS can print?

This is the same in Europe.

And Sony beat them out in the US for two straight months. Sure, it wasn't by much...but things aren't looking so good for Redmond now are they?

Frank, why do you care so much? Seriously, it's not like you're gonna make shit loads of money if the Xbox 360 loses. Hell I have a PS3, 360, and Wii. So if they console race is about equal that means more competition and more features.

You know what that means Frank? It means the consumer wins.

This is one of the many reasons why I bought a 360 instead of a PS3. I don't doubt on the technical prowess of the PS3, but I don't watch movies, I don't like the small controller, Xbox has more games that I (not you) want to play, and I don't want to support a company where most (not all) of their customers act like asses. Maybe in the future PS3, but not now.

We have, and we will. All of those things you mentioned were also considered in my purchase, I didn't turn a blind eye to them.

I'm enjoying my system of choice and you are enjoying your system of choice. I'm not going to get into the arguement of what Sony says/does vs. Microsoft says/does.

Oh, and who are you to tell us how to spend our money?

playwhutyalike, there are about as many asses as customers or gamers playing each console, there are no more asses with PS3 then there are on Xbox, you only have to log into Live to find that out.
