Reggie: Holiday blockbuster for the Wii to be revealed at E3

Unless you have some sort of parentally-enforced bedtime, or live in an Amish community that shuns the use of televisions, there's really no excuse to miss the piping-hot weekly episodes of Gametrailers TV on Spike. If you skipped last Friday's show, you missed some of the most exciting news to grace Nintendo fanboys' ears in quite some time -- the promise of an E3 unveiling of a Wii holiday blockbuster, delivered by the mountainous Reggie Fils-Aime.

"We are going to have great new content maximizing all our key franchises," Fils-Aime promised. "It's going to be a good second half." As host Geoff Keighley conjectured, a Donkey Kong Wii title is certainly a logical assumption, but our fingers are eternally crossed for Animal Crossing Wii. What first-party franchises do you hope The Reg was hinting at?

I hope to god it's NOT Animal Crossing. Seriously, some games are like work, but Animal Crossing seems to make a point of mimicing the drudgeries in life, but less physically exhausting.

I don't understand the attention and acclaim myself; I'd far prefer something in the vein of a multiplayer experience, but i guess i'll have that in Brawl as soon as i get my hands on it. Nope, i guess there's not really anything my mind can conjour that can etice me. Except for a nice grand RPG; the Wii has a distinct lack of RPGs at the moment, and i have been gagging for a nice RPG for quite some time now.

Zelda styled Kid Icarus game please! I'd love to see a Nintendo take on Greek mythology. Some heavy hitting 3rd party games wouldn't hurt either. :)

Reggie looks different somehow. He's a lot paler than usual.

Actually I'm hoping for a new original IP. If I want to play those games you guys are talking about they just made them a few years ago...I hardly need remakes.

I second a new Kid Icarus, but I'd be mad if Nintendo just made it basically a Zelda game. I'd like to see them make Kid Icarus Nintendo's take on the Ninja Gaiden/DMC-style action genre...only without the loads of violence, obviously.

Yes I know that was the original title of Paper Mario, but Paper Mario wasn't anything like Mario RPG. It didn't have any of the characters like Mallow and Geno or any of the locations. I want a direct sequel to Mario RPG.

Eff that I want Sonic and Mario in a platformer game but I guess that isn't going to happen until 6 years from now.

Well I would like a Starcraft II port but an Advanced Wars game or a new star fox would be great but that idea of a new Kid Icarus game sounds good.

my thoughts exactly. i want a new Pikmin and like someone else already stated, a Zelda style Kid Icarus game. ill be a super happy camper then.

i would love a full console Pokemon RPG game too. ive said it many times before that the only reason we havent had a console one yet is because we couldnt trade (major aspect of the game) but now its possible since the Wii supports online. can you imagine? walking around in the grass and actually seeing that wild Pikachu and chasing it into a battle? i get giddy just thinking about it! (yes i know how crazy that sounds but im not ashamed of being a Pokemaniac lol)

OK, I'm gunna be careful while I say this because I DO own a Wii and not a troll...BUT: Nintendo saying that they're going to announce a Big Game for the Wii in July and release it by December without it being delayed (Nintendo) just doesnt like it'll happen. I hope its true though. Oh, and I hope the game's Kid Icarus, the one factor 5 is working on :)

I WOULD agree with you, but so far they seem to be following through on Mario Kart Wii from initial unveiling to global release in, what (was last E3 in July?), 9 months? And while Mario Kart Wii might not have the sharpest graphics, the amount of content certainly doesn't look like they rushed it

Actually, there already exists an MMO which uses Nintendo's friend code system. Look up Toontown online, which by virtue of being targetted mainly at kids, necessitates such a system.

And wasn't the Animal Crossing MMO idea show down anyway?

(IMO, a Zelda: 4-Swords based MMO would be better. And moreso if you combine Animal Crossing aspects into it.)

My money's on either Disaster: Day of Crisis (that one's been brewing since Wii was unveiled, and could certainly be a game-changing, epic title), or Animal Crossing (that was one of the first games to be announced to be compatible with the Wii message board)

Although whatever it may be whatever Factor 5's cooking up, too.

It is probably going to mean that Mario Kart will be delayed till Q4, however in dreaming we get the first ground-up version of Wii Zelda, not the gamecube upgraded one.

I'm hoping we have these games in the pipeline: Donkey Kong Adventure Game, Kid Icarus, Disaster: Day of Crisis, Zelda Wii, Star Fox Wii, Kirby Wii, Mario Sports Games, Pikmin 3. A good Mario Party on Wii.

But my guess for Holidays 08? Wii Music.

Yeah, I like that list you've concocted. But I don't think they'll plan on making Wii Music a big deal (or at least that specific big deal) at E3 - why would Reggie build this up on a show only gamers watch? It's gotta be something for the fanboys and hardcore - not the oldies.
